Title: Have you ever 3D modeled?
Post by: Morpheus, the unwoke. on October 16, 2022, 04:25:31 PM
Ok. I've heard every (physical) modeling joke that can be made after posting this on other forums, they're not funny and you're not clever for making one here.

So have you ever used a 3d modeling program to make anything? I use blender 3d to make scifi ships and stuff.

Ok can't seem to upload images directly...

I took a 3d modeling class in college but that was years ago.  I think the software was LightWare.

A few years ago I got Pinch ViaCad 2D/3D but haven't really done much with it.  Strangely, not as many tutorials on line as I thought there would be. Also, my current computer isn't as powerful as I think it needs to be.  I'm planning on getting a new one this summer, one powerful enough to run all my graphics and other programs I need.

I would like to get a 3D printer at some point.  I have an idea for a cosplay I'd like to do, and some 3D printed parts would come in handy.

Finally, I think you need a certain number of posts, before you can post pics and links.   I think its 50.

Lightwave is a common 3d modelibg program and costs body parts to use. I recommend blender 3d, freeware.

In general you'll need a good GPU in your system for rendering 3d now. I recommend at least a fx 1660 or higher, look for one with as many CUDA cores as you can get.

Save money on a cpu by getting a ryzen, put the money into a gpu with as much Ram and cuda as you can get. Buy new, never used.
