This is something I've been meaning to do for a while, but I always forget about it until the year is well under way.
Not this year.
This year, we start THE BAD MOVIE CALENDAR.
Every day, post a movie that goes with that day and why it fits that day.
Some days will naturally be a lot easier than others. You might have to look up what obscure holidays happened on that day or what happened in world history to find something. Hopefully we can keep this going until the end of the year.
Because to day is the first day of the new year, we start with ...

On June 4, 2004, after years of getting beat down by a corrupt local government in collusion with a local cement factory, Marvin Heemeyer took a sixty-three-ton Komatsu D355A bulldozer armored with 30 tons of concrete and steel and went on a rampage through Granby, Colorado... The next day, Ronald Reagan died...
They made a documentary called Tread (2020)

I have a little story about talk like a Pirate day.
Around the time the third Pirates of the Caribbean movie was released I noticed one of my FB friends was, well, talking like a pirate. This went on for a few years and quite frankly, it wasn't funny or cute, just distracting. So I said "you must really like those Pirates of the Caribbean movies" and she said she never seen any of those movies. I asked why she was talking like Johnny Depp in those Pirate flicks, she then told me about the talk like a Pirate day.
I thought she was joking but she linked me to the wikki page. That's when I first learned about these "days".
So yeah, I actually know somebody who used to talk (in this case, type) like a pirate on talk like a pirate day. She doesn't anymore though.

Ninja at the top right looks like he trod in something nasty :buggedout:
Out of curiosity, I searched YouTube videos for this year's International Ninja Day and Popping Corn Day. I found zero 2023 Ninja Day videos, and maybe one 2023 popping corn day. I didn't see any in my Facebook feed either. I guess they are celebrating those days on X and Instagram? Didn't check though.

Shame really. The internet goes wild over talk like a pirate day, but nobody wants to celebrate the ninja? Just doesn't seem fair.

And with that... we draw out topic to a close. It's been an interesting experiment. Didn't quite go the way I wanted it to, but what the hell.
I feel like there should've been a challenge to make it more fun and interesting. Allowing bad movies only would've been a good start.
Adding good movies didn't work for me at all, unless for a separate Good Movie Daily Calendar.
Neat idea, but randomly all over the place, which made it less appealing to participate more than I wanted.

Fair enough.
Although even with good movies, there were some days where it was hard to find anything that matched up.
I would have preferred more bad movies, but think it's pretty amazing that we finished this at all! It's not as easy as it looks.
Congratulations on keeping it going for the full year and getting it finished.
