I saw this today in the cinema and was really underwhelmed: the production and art design were great (the 1930s props and cars: wow) as well as the cinematography but the script and the acting: yikes.
Liam Neeson looks tired, Jessica Lange just looks old: everyone smokes, everyone drinks: I can't believe the person who won an Oscar for The Departed wrote this.
The editing was all over the place: it's like I edited this movie. :buggedout:
Everything was just OK, nothing more. Worth an online watch if you don't have to pay for it.

Back then everybody did smoke and drink. So at least it was accurate about that.
Iv'e not seen it, likely won't. Not a big Liam Neeson fan, though I like him well enough in DARK MAN. I watched the trailer. It looks forced. Like it's trying to be a homage to Bogey, and doing it very badly.

Agreed: the film lagged so badly at times that I thought I was watching paint dry. :buggedout:
As I said:
The production design:
The props and locations:
The cars:
The photography: apart from an obvious 1930s CGI shot of LA,
The editing: :buggedout:
The acting: meh
The direction: the man who made Mona Lisa and The Crying Game made this? :buggedout:
