Title: The Quentin Tarantino Film Festival Lowest Rated Movies
Post by: claws on July 21, 2023, 10:51:13 PM
QuoteThe Quentin Tarantino Film Festival, or QT-Fest, was a semi-annual film and multimedia event held by the Austin Film Society in Austin, Texas and attended by film director Quentin Tarantino, where he screened a selection of his favorite films using prints he owns.

These are the lowest rated (IMDb) movies from Quentin Tarantino's Film Festival(s). How many have you seen?

7 that I've seen for sure. Few others that sounded familiar but I wasn't positive that I'd seen or not.

HELL NIGHT

(that last one pointed out that it was shown at the QT film festival on the box, which is why I bought it)

Lotta' good lowest-rated movies on that list! :) Well, almost 10. There are a bunch I need to see or have never heard of.

I really enjoyed SATURN 3 as a... small child! MMM, Farrah.

MADMAN's a blast, HELL NIGHT is fun, and HOLLYWOOD MAN is easily a 4/5. Fascinating film, interesting plot and texture, great acting by William Smith and Mary Woronov.

I feel like Madman, Hell Night and Don't Go in the House fall into the good/bad borderline category. Madman is obviously oozing with atmosphere, but there are also portions of cheese that would make Troll 2 blush.

The "problem" with Hell Night might be its snail pacing. A slow paced slasher movie is not everyone's cup of tea. The defenders of Hell Night claim the pacing adds to the atmosphere, but where does atmosphere begin and where does boring end? If anything, the opening speech is one of Tarantino's all time favorite movie speeches.

Don't Go in the House is the odd duck. It is sleazy, it is grim and it pays homage to Psycho and has an interesting twist. The killer is a sneaky coward and the actor playing him is quite good. There's also plenty cheese. All this works for me but I can see people having issues with the film.

Agreed on Hollywood Man, it was surprisngly decent. Same goes for Fever Pitch (1985) which is criminally overlooked. Crack House (1989) is actually amazing. It looks like your below average urban tinted action junk video shelf filler but it delivers on the goods.
