Trying to find a mini series, I saw only a few minutes of one episode possibly about 20 years ago. I would guess it may have been on PBS, may have originated from BBC.
May have been set during WWI.
There was a scene where a low ranking officer walks in on his wife on her knees in front of his superior. As a dutiful soldier he attempts to deliver his message professionally and simply leaves them to finish.
Maybe "The Monocled Mutineer" ?
During World War I, Percy Toplis, a deserter from the British Army, plays a major role in the Étaples Mutiny in September 1917.
I will check this one out! not sure if it is the right one but it's the right time and look. Even if it's not the right one it sure looks good.

Did you check? I don't have other ideas.
I have hopped around in it and am not sure, so will need to probably watch the whole thing. It has the right look, so it may be the one. It looks like a good one so I think I'll enjoy it.
