I haven't seen many Godzilla movies but this looks great.

I'm guessing I seen every Godzilla movie ever made. My kids loved them when they were little. As a result, I became addicted. I reckon I need to see this too.

I know I'm going to go see it.
So, what is the "minus one" thing about?
^ As President of Toho International Koji Ueda explained in a statement obtained by Forbes: "The concept is that Japan, which had already been devastated by the war, faces a new threat with Godzilla, bringing the country into the 'minus.'"

They should have done this with Star Wars. That way we'd have Star Wars -3, -2, -1, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6
^ Uh....Star Wars... :hatred:

The film takes place immediately after WW2. Japan has been brought to its absolute lowest point. aka Zero. Then Godzilla shows up and makes it worse. ( - 1)
I get it - like a grading rubric for a student assignment!
Does not address prompt -1
Poor proofing/formal errors -1
Godzilla -1
Weak thesis -1
After Dune Part 2 getting delayed this was a much needed replacement. I am highly looking forward to it and looks to be a return to form. The Monsterverse movies have been hit or miss with me and Shin Godzilla was very much Hideaki Anno's take on the character.
Looks promising.
It has to be better than the dreadful US versions of Godzilla. The most recent one with the silly bint from "Stranger Things" had me turning it off as soon as the manipulative Mothra scene took place. Brainless crap. Though I DO have a thing for Vera Farmiga. So lovely.
There were a lot of good actors in that one, all wasted on that deeply dumb screenplay. Ugh, that movie made me mad.
Saw it on Friday and its is really good.
You have a compelling story about a former militarily man, survives guilt, failure of duty and redemption. And of course-Godzilla.
This movie returns Godzilla to a force of nature and a malevolent one at that. I won't go to much into spoilers, but this was a horror movie in parts. Design wise, they are using CGI now. It does lose the charm of a man in a suit, but also they use it to get some good shots, and have Godzilla do things that might have been a bit more difficult to do in live action. He's got something that looks a lot like his Heisei design. Which is one of my favorites.
Acting was good, story was good, and while they do have long periods of time without Godzilla on screen-when he does appear they make it count.
I suggest people see this movie. It was that good.
Fantastic GODZILLA film, perhaps the best since the original GOJIRA, and an incredible Kaiju movie all around. Well-worth seeing in the theater
We're going this afternoon! I can't wait!
