Title: My book: I might have messed up.
Post by: Trevor on December 09, 2023, 02:48:22 PM
I haven't told anyone this but I got quite ill in November and I missed my submission deadline by three days.

I also misread my contract and targeted the wrong date: as soon as I realized my mistake, I immediately contacted my publisher and sent everything through, script and stills. I apologized several times.

I haven't heard from the publisher since I signed the contract almost eight months ago so I hope I haven't put myself in legal jeopardy  :buggedout:

Trevor, I got my manuscript in a few days late too. I emailed him beforehand, he didn't seem at all concerned and said he doesn't hold authors to strict deadlines. So no worries!

Thanks Rev: I checked my emails from a few months ago and in one, he says "nothing in this contract is set in stone", so OK.

Probably the reason is he wants us to give him leniency on HIS deadlines.

I messaged Bear Manor Media on Instagram the other day and they said that they would check to confirm if everything was received: that was Tuesday, I'm still waiting.  :buggedout:

I heard from my publisher: there might be a few issues up ahead for me as the publisher wants higher resolution copies of the stills I provided and that I can't do.

Get a graphics guy to look at them for you. There are programs which will upscale graphics for you. I used https://letsenhance.io/ on some ($9 for 20 upscales). Sometimes it worked, sometimes it didn't. But you can also save anything at 300 dpi even if the actual resolution is lower, and it might fool them if it looks good enough.
