QuoteCountry music legend Toby Keith has died, according to his official website and social media pages. He was 62.

A statement from his family said the "Should've Been a Cowboy" singer died on Monday night.

"Toby Keith passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family. He fought his fight with grace and courage. Please respect the privacy of his family at this time," a statement said.

NBC News reported that Keith revealed he had stomach cancer in June 2022. Last September, the country music star said he went through a "roller coaster" experience going through treatment.

He had Elizabeth Smart play the national anthem on her harp at one of his concerts not long after she was rescued. I always thought he must've been a pretty good guy for doing that.

can't say I'm much of a country fan but I stumbled on a few of his tracks on youtube a couple of years ago and despite how ridiculously cheesy most of them were I have to admit they became guilty pleasures

especially this one

he's pretty unknown here in the UK, at least I've never heard his name mentioned or songs played anywhere

One of the few country artists I liked. Cancer sucks.
