Title: Monster From Green Hell Sequel?
Post by: Foywonder on June 14, 2002, 01:00:53 AM
I need someone to settle this arguement for me. A friend of mine who loves 50s sci-fi insists that a sequel was made to MONSTER FROM GREEN HELL (giant atomic wasps in Africa) called RETURN TO GREEN HELL. I, however, have never been able to find any proof of the existence of said movie. Not even IMDB has a listing for such a movie. So, can someone state conclusively that this movie does not exist whatsoever?

Eh. I can't say conclusively, but Monster From Green Hell was a dull little fart of a movie, pure second-rank double-bill filler, so the likelyhood of a sequel--remember, this was back when only big, marketable properties like The Gillman and Dracula returned for another picture--is negligible.

I have to agree with Squishy, Monster From Green Hell was a very ponderous affair.

Speaking of dull movies, I should also mention The Deadly Mantis, The Mole People & It Came From Beneath The Sea. It pains me to say but I can't find much value in these stinkers.

I wouldn't call "Monster From Green Hell" dull.  Utterly pointless and mindnumbingly boring is more like it.

Back on topic: I've been a horror/monster movie fanatic for years and I've never heard of "Return to Green Hell."  The mere thought of it is...unpleasant.

And off topic once more: I’ve always had a soft spot in my heart for "It Came From Beneath The Sea."  Something about the characters (the scientist (Donald Curtis) is almost consistently more heroic than the sub captain (Kenneth Tobey); the lady scientist (Faith Domergue) and all of her lists) and the FX (Harryhausen) really makes the movie for me.  Granted, it follows the same path as every other giant monster movie, but I think it's one of the better ones.

Beats the more modern "Octopus" hands (arms?) down.

Agree with you there.  This one is a real snorer. I recently reviewed it for my site if anyone is interested in reading more:  Gerry's MONSTER FROM GREEN HELL review

I've never heard of a sequel either.  Sounds like a pipe dream to me.

Maybe he's thinking of FROM HELL IT CAME, about the posessed tree.  The old Golden Turkey awards book quoted critic Ed Naha's review, "And to Hell it can go!"
Title: Nope

We're more than familiar with that one. My friend insists a sequel called RETURN TO GREEN HELL was made. I highly doubt it myself.

A guy called Billy Black does a cable host show here in Columbus, and he did a Tiger Lilly of that flick. Pretty funny, actualy. If you ever come across the Billy Black version of Monster from Green Hell, get it. You'll laugh your seat cusion off.
