Yes- it's that time of year again!
Myself- no one. I never vote. But if I did- I'd vote Satan over Trump.
Old timers on this board will recall that I was once a passionate Republican.
I voted Republican for 32 years straight, and don't regret any of those votes, although some of them I knew would be going to the loser (Dole, McCain).
But I will crawl across broken glass on my hands and knees to vote against Trump.
The man is irredeemably evil. I may disagree with Joe Biden on some matters of policy, but he is SANE.
And he won't try to overthrow democracy in a fit of rage if he loses.
So yeah, Uncle Joe's got my vote until the GOP regains its sanity. IF that ever happens.
Depends, is Bill the Cat still alive?
Our national erections take place on May 29th this year: hopefully the ANC will be deposed. Lord knows they have ruined this country 😔😔
I've been dreading this topic.
Please don't attack other users if they favor a candidate you don't.
For me, it's Biden, pretty much for the reasons Indy stated.
I, myself, don't plan on getting into heated debates on this like I did in the past. Frankly, I could give a f**k less about much of anything. My personal life and health problems pretty much have me just hoping to die soon- so good luck with this political s**t.
(And I'm the one who started the post- go figure, right?)
To give an honest answer to your question, RC, I don't think I'll vote either. No one worth supporting, few good roads ahead, so I plan to lie low, seek happiness, try to stay out of the world's way.
Biden. It seems in Washington the right has gone insane.
Biden again.
Trump
(Don't say anything. DON'T SAY ANYTHING. :hot:)
Because of the U.S.'s f-ed up electoral system, there are only 6 states where your vote matters next year: Pennsylvania, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Carolina, Arizona, and Georgia. All of the other states are uncompetitive.
Not Ohio? I thought they always came and pretended to fawn over us here?
It seems so uninspiring, which old man will you pick, the senile, venal plagiarist, or the revenge-bent would-be dictator who was so clueless he sent janitors from federal installations to war zones under executive order?
Think I'll sit this train wreck out.

Next year? Huh?
Anyway- I live in Michigan! Maybe I will vote! Not for that braindead Trump!
This is not a time to sit things out. Even if you don't like either candidate, you can't tell me that you don't think one of them is so much worse than the other.
^ I'm usually apathetic. But If I do- it will be Biden. Trump hopefully will end up in prison.

There have been a few times I wrote in my own name just to show my distaste for the candidates available.....
Aaaannnddd, Nikki Haley just made history for losing to
"none of these candidates" in the Nevada primaries...
Well I live in Massachusetts so there's no reason for me to vote at all, but it would be for Trump.
My fear with Trump the first time was that he would start WW3, but Biden has done nothing but fuel the fire of two different wars that are going right now, with hundreds of thousands dead. No surprise inflation and crime are through the roof at home as well.
More to the point: He is senile.
^ So much for my "agreeing with you" streak.
Biden is too old in the way Bush Jr was too dumb. I just can't get past it.
^ ...and Trump isn't to old? Gimme a break. (Not to mention a soon to be convict and a traitor to the Constitution. Plus he has NO agenda beyond revenge and his obsession with water pressure.)
Personally- I'm sick of old f**kers running this country. We need new blood.
Trump is more coherent than Biden but I agree. A lot has changed in the last 20 or so years it would be a good time for a (much) younger POTUS
Trump is NOT coherent, IMHO. But regardless. Trump is a criminal and a liar. That is a fact.
It would be easy to come up with 10-20 names, on either side of the aisle, I would prefer to either of the anointed candidates. I think the larger problem is that the "two party system" (which has zero Constitutional basis) is broken.
I can't believe the political conventions still get so much airtime.
^ But does anyone besides hardcore politically minded flakes watch?
I'd watch Honey BooBoo reruns first!
Well, the Virginia republican primaries are tuesday, and Nikki Haley is the projected winner because the leadership says they want it that way...,..

Trump is only three years younger than Biden, much fatter, less active, with a worse diet, and has show far more signs or metal decline, but sure. Those three years are what stands out to you.
^ I guess the fact that he's a criminal and a traitor doesn't bother him, either.

QuoteTrump is only three years younger than Biden, much fatter, less active, with a worse diet, and has show far more signs or metal decline,
as Tribe called Quest used to say "believe that if you want" but Trump is out doing rallies and interviews while Biden does extremely carefully managed press conferences that he still messes up. age affects different people differently
QuoteI guess the fact that he's a criminal and a traitor doesn't bother him, either.
no it doesn't
Have you see Trumps rallies? He's confused, he forgets where he is, he slurs his words, he can't keep people straight, he forgets who the current president even is, he stands there looking confused, he even referred to Argentina as a person.
RC - why would you ask people who they're voting for then get mad when they tell you?
chainsaw - do you have a link?
Mad at you? I could care less about you. I'm mad at Trump. He's a wanna be dictator. A pathalogical liar. A traitor to democracy. And Chainsaw is right. Don't you watch the news? I think the only reason you like Trump is because you like chaos.
I'm voting for the guy that doesn't need the Cookie Monster to explain the economy.
Just hoping to speak sociologically here and hopefully not upset anyone....
Something I have noticed, it seems like support for Biden is not ardent, it's because he is the party's nominee, and he's not Trump. From what I see, most people who support Trump do so with almost a fanaticism bordering on a cult of personality. I don't know what if anything that augers for this November, since an unenthusiastic vote counts as much as a fervent one, but it is something I saw four years ago and witness maybe even more now. If anything in the heart of redness where I dwell, Trump supporters are at fever pitch. There's no political discussion in this area, only a gang mentality with a lot of anger behind it. Whether that would be mirrored if I went to a deep blue area, I don't know, but it seems like this election is about settling on someone versus rabidly supporting another.
To be honest I'd take any president we've had in this century, especially Bill Clinton, over either President Trump or President Biden in 2024. I do not welcome a coming four years under either man.

I think that's accurate. The election is about Trump, and the majority of Biden voters (myself included) are simply casting a ballot against Trump. I would have considered voting for a different Republican candidate against Biden if they had nominated one, but Trump is simply unacceptable to a large percentage of the electorate.
IMHO, the "cult" started on the left. Things just got weird, & you couldn't talk to people anymore.
It seemed to begin with Amy Poehler singing a Leonard Cohen song for five minutes instead of telling jokes on SNL...
Then The Cast of Hamilton begged Mike Pence not to take away their rights...
Things got outa hand pretty quick.

He was persistently saying "Obama" instead of "Biden'" in another rally. Sometimes he slurs words and can't finish his sentences.
Basically if he isn't reading from a teleprompter, it's addled.
By Argentina I assume he meant their new president. Seems like something MSNBC put together to try and shift the attention away from Biden. It's just regular unscripted talking
Biden isn't insanely demented he's just a little too old https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8sT8m098Pk (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Q8sT8m098Pk) If I thought he had some particular wisdom I guess I could overlook it?

Biden has the wisdom to take advice from others, which is why his mental state doesn't especially worry me (although of course I'd prefer another choice if it were possible).

don't normally contribute to these threads but here's some quotes on politics from HR Mencken:
QuoteIt is inaccurate to say that I hate everything. I am strongly in favor of common sense, common honesty, and common decency. This makes me forever ineligible for public office.
QuoteA national political campaign is better than the best circus ever heard of, with a mass baptism and a couple of hangings thrown in.
QuoteA politician is an animal which can sit on a fence and yet keep both ears to the ground.
and my favourite...
QuoteEach party steals so many articles of faith from the other, and the candidates spend so much time making each other's speeches, that by the time election day is past there is nothing much to do save turn the sitting rascals out and let a new gang in.
Lester, you accused people of being mad at you for your choice earlier. I'm not mad. I'm just really disappointed. I know you're not this stupid. I just don't understand why you want to act like you are.
Chainsaw: my big issues are war and the economy. Trump will be better than Biden on the latter and just as bad on the former.
RC- both Trump and Biden are experts on plausible deniability. People in Ukraine knew they had to hire Biden's crackhead son the same way Trumps lawyers knew they had to pay off Stormy Daniels.
Ho-Hum. Your lack of knowledge is becoming blaise.
Careful about drifting into personal insults.
No one is going to change anyone's opinion at this point. There are essentially no undecideds left in this election (maybe a small number of Haley supporters are up for grabs).
Observe that the more you attack a candidate, the firmer his voter's support becomes. It's a bit of a paradox.

Well, I actually watched Biden's State of the Union. AND IT WAS GOOD!
Made Donald Dump look like the fool he is.
That had me shouting back at my tv for an hour & a half.
Most of what he had to say was recycled, and he had to shout the whole time to overcome his mumbling.
Unlike Trump- who has done nothing but b***hing about how he "won" the election for 4 years?
Guess what, Trump? Yer gonna have another 4 years to b***h.
And unlike Biden, has nothing good to say about anything or anybody. He's a crybaby LOSER.
That's another thing; biden kept trying to blame "My Predecessor" for his own faults.
It takes a maniacal tyrant to call seventy-three million voters "Enemies Of Democracy".
"Maniacal Tyrant". You kill me. :bouncegiggle:

I'll just throw this down, no attacks on anybody intended:
The Russia stuff has NOT been "debunked." AT ALL.
Just because Bill Barr whitewashed the conclusions of the Mueller Report doesn't negate them.
158 documented contacts between members of Trump's campaign staff and various Russian assets.
Massive, deliberate interference BY Russia in the 2016 and 2020 election process, flooding social media with pro-Trump, anti-Democrat memes originating in Russian bot factories.
Multiple criminal indictments and convictions. Trump rolling over like a cur dog every time he was in Putin's presence.
And now a $100 million dollar loan from a Russia-controlled bank to cover his legal woes.
The man is COMPLETELY compromised by Russia. He may not be a KNOWING Russian asset - but he serves their interests far more effectively than he serves Americas.
And despite all the lies, rumor, and innuendo, a full rectal probe of Joe Biden's finances has yet to show he ever took a penny from China.
And the "star witness" in the Republicans' "me too" impeachment process turned out to be - big surprise! - echoing Russian propaganda, and committing perjury while doing so.
