Title: 100 MAD MAX/FALLOUT-STYLE POST-APOCALYPTIC MOVIES

In honor of FURIOSA, I thought I'd start yet another another "100" list.

I specified "Mad Max"-style specifically to try to exclude the separate "zombie apocalypse" genre. I'm pretty sure people won't read this post and will include zombie apocalypse movies, though, and I won't try to police them. But hopefully we can stick to non-zombie post-nuke apocalypses! I want to see if we can come up with 100 of them. And I especially value recommendations for pre-ROAD WARRIOR examples of the genre.

Anyway, I'll start with the movie that inspired me to start this thread:

4. A Boy and His Dog (1974) - (this is the first movie I think of when I think of the MAD MAX milieu before MAD MAX. A lot more sci-fi, but the general desert junkyard vibe is the same.)

I let broad interpretations of "post-apocalyptic" in, so I'll leave it... but it's speculative. I never thought EL TOPO took place after an apocalypse, just in an alternate reality. Still, if that's your interpretation go for it!

I hate to be a fly in the ointment, and I myself have been guilty of stretching the definition of "post-apocalyptic" here. But I'll maintain that all of my suggestions take place partially or entirely following something that may be an apocalypse. EL TOPO might take place instead in a fantasy world, not a post-apocalyptic one, so I wouldn't complain if it's disqualified.

But, w/ much due respect to Trevor - is any part of THE LAST WAVE post-apocalyptic?  IIRC, the entire film takes place in pre- or non-apocalyptic Earth, and only at the very end does something occur which might be an apocalypse. We never see what happens post-apocalypse in THE LAST WAVE, though....... right? So - - - in the most good-spirited if deeply autistic manner possible....... might I motion to strike that one?  :thumbdown:

(Still a great movie!)
