Many years ago I saw a compilation of bad films. I did not know what it was then, I was too small. I remember a sort of dark lumpy mass eating people along with a few other scenes, and the host describing the thing as a 'c**et' monster. I thought the host said 'closet' as apposed to carpet, so I was led astray. As I grew, I wondered, "What had I seen?" "How did that thing catch people?". As a journyed, searching to answere these questions, I found Mystery Science Theater 3000 and many bad movies, and discovered I liked both. I came across "Earth Vs the Spider", "One Million Years B.C.", "Earth Vs the Flying Soucers", "At the Earths Core", "The Tingler", "Leviathan", "Night of the Creeps" and so many others I have lost count. But still the scene I remembered eluded me. I searched the Net, but with no words to go on it was in useless, though I found the bad movie comunity. Finnaly, exausted, I saw a book on the shelf at the library, called "The Encyclopedia of Monsters". It had information on monsters from film to myth to litrature to trading cards. It is a wonderful book for those who like bad films. I found a description in it of a film called "The Creeping Terror". I had not seen this name online before and tried it as a search. At last! I had found the film that started me on the path to awful cinema, and even the compilation I had seen. (It Came From Hollywood). Also, I found out that the monster didn't catch people, they simply climbed in. The part of me that had been wondering about that whent out like a candle.
So, have any others seen this one? Their are many inconsistancies in the reviews I have read, some say the creature was killed with a grenade, others with a bazooka, others with a flame thrower. What happend? In the copy I saw (MST3K) one creature is killed with a grenade, the other is run over with a car. The idea that their might be multiple versions is truly scary, so what have other people seen?
This is my first post and introduction to this board, Thank you for taking the time to read my long and mostly pointless message.

Yes,I do remember this eternally awful movie,as much as I do "Showgirls".
"Creeping..." is so awful, that the first time I saw it on a local creature features show, the host snuck out,and left a letter at the very end of the show, saying,"I left..."
I surely wished I would have followed him away from this turkey of a flick, lemme tell ya!!
I seem to recall seeing it at one point too. Not so much the movie itself, but the descriptions of a movie with no dialog triggered my memory.
I've had movies that haunted me too. There was one about a kid and his unseen 'friend' who left giant footprints in the ground, which turned out to be an episode of One Step Beyond. Then there was a TV movie recently identified as The World Beyond. For a long time I remembered seeing a movie with domed robots covered in bumps and it wasn't until Doctor Who started airing here that I was able to able to ID the movie as Daleks - Invasion Earth 2150AD. Then for years I remembered seeing a movie with a giant ghost towering over buildings and some people on a crane. Finally, one night I happened to watch Five Million Miles to Earth and there was the scene I remembered.
I don't get any local chanels that run old creature feature type shows, and it was weird finding this one as an entry in some odd book. This film is one of the worst ever made (note: There can not be THE worst movie because someone can always make one thats worse)
(Takes very deep breath): The creature was too slow to catch anyone, the 'victims' climbed into it's mouth, the thing looked like an old carpet, you could see shoes sticking out underneath, and the soundtrack was lost (gasp). Sorry, just needed to vent a bit.
Still, this is actualy one of my favorites because of all that and because it was the one that started me on bad films.
Just out of curiosity, did anyone else notice that the sound effects for the creature sound like the director yelling into and chewing on a microphone?
