Any wild animals you see regularly or spotted in your region or neighborhood?
Where I live, I see storks almost on a daily basis. We have plenty of 'wetland' so no big surprise.
Our river that flows nearby has muskrats and beavers.
We got mustelids and hedgehogs in our neighborhood, usually only seen at night.
Not uncommon to spot deer and rabbits in the outskirts of our town. If you're lucky, you might get a glimpse of wild boars as well.
Also in summer, just when it turns dark, bats.
There used to be lizards and non-poison snakes but haven't seen in ages.
Lightning bug sightings are rare. Some year there are quite a few, the other year none.
There's a boost of wildcats in our region, after almost going extinct in 1984. I don't think I have seen one yet though.
We have a family of badgers in some part of the woods. There are caution: badger signs there, reminding people not to disturb them.
How about your regional wildlife?
Let's see...deer, coyotes, possum, racoons, rabbits, hawks, crows, turkey vultures, snapping turtles, and the usual birds, squirrels and bugs and frogs and s**t.
Fox and badgers if your lucky. Bear been seen about 25 miles from hear in Hartford, but that's rare. Some folks swear they seen cougars- but they're not native so who knows?
I quite often see rabbits, deer and hedgehogs, sometimes foxes. Being at the coast we have dolphins, Minke whales and Orcas. Sometimes I've seen the aftermath of having owls nesting nearby, but I've never seen them in the wild here as of yet.
Oh yeah and the f**king seagulls.
My home is right beside a small copse of trees that used to be a much larger one. There are rabbits and chipmunks in my neighborhood, and a recent skunk sighting. We used to have deer wander through our yards, but when they chopped down much of the woods to build residential housing they migrated away.
One year a stray rooster took up residence right outside my home. It was the worst, it started crowing about 4 AM and wouldn't shut up until sunrise. A neighbor finally called animal control on the monster.
loads of foxes where I live. leave food out for them in my garden, which they eat at night, but it's not uncommon to see them walking along the pavements in the middle of the day. whenever I see them my initial reaction is always "wow that's a big cat", then I realise it's a fox - which is odd as foxes are canine. they look more feline to me
apart from that nothing spectacular or exotic.
My place is situated very near a hilltop nature reserve which no one can visit 🥴
Bunnies, foxes, deer, geese, turkeys and expensive looking dogs
^ I have bats in my attic! Once in awhile they get into the other parts of the house and I have to shoo them out with a broom.
Surprisingly not a lot fox sightings, but we do have foxes.
In between the storks, you might spot a grey heron or two.
There's a small alleyway kind of road nearby with a row of chestnut trees on the left. There were squirrels there, but I haven't noticed any in years.
Deer, coyotes, rabbits, raccoons, armadillos, possums, skunks, beavers, and various snakes and turtles are most common.
Present but more rarely seen: Bobcats, foxes, mountain lions, and river otters.
I live in a city centre, so it is mainly pigeons, pigeons and more pigeons.
