Other than the obvious thing that I love THE SHINING 😉, I am not really a fan of popcorn.
I have only seen the first STAR WARS film-none of the others- and found it mediocre.
I have never seen an INDIANA JONES film.
I have never seen a BATMAN movie beyond the 1966 one.
I've only seen bits and pieces of The Warriors. I did watch The Wanderers in one sitting. Go figure.
Not a fan of mob movies. Never seen Goodfellas, or The Godfather 2 and 3.
I can't get into Anime movies, series or comics.
Everything about me is strange, as a movie fan or otherwise.
I do have major lapses in my canonical film viewing, but everyone else here seems to have those as well, so maybe that's the one regard in which I'm normal.
The movies I like best are strange.
I've never seen all the feature films of any director who has more than 4 features to his name.
I'm missing 1 Lynch, 4 Fellinis, 5 Kubricks... I don't feel the need to complete filmographies.
I also don't care that much about actors and think they are mostly interchangeable. They're like the players in an orchestra to me; who cares who takes the violin solo? Another performer could have done it just as well.
there's a small bunch of A-list actors (not many, but a few... all of whom are currently active I think) who I simply cannot watch. I'm talking borderline impulse reaction of 'ugghh naaahhh!' if I see them on a screen... it's not about acting chops, looks, any of that. can't explain it... that's quite strange.

I kind of understand this in theory, but in practice... I think certain actors were almost born to play certain roles. who could've played Frank Drebin equally as well or better than Leslie Nielsen?
^ I agree some actors seem born for the role. Boris Karloff is the only actor who played the Frankenstein Monster that seemed to fit. Lugosi, Chaney, Strange, and Lee did nothing for the part. Karloff gave the Monster a heart and pathos.
And as good as Lee was as Dracula, only Bela Lugosi made him seem truly unworldy...those eyes! That voice! Lee's clipped British accent never quite fit the Translyvanian Count.
I love movies with ridiculous gore (the lower budget and cheesier looking, the better!) but I absolutely hate movies that have torture stuff.

yeah I love slashers but find prolonged torture type scenes just depressing.

until we see Pauly Shore as Dracula then I am reserving judgement on who's the best... don't want to speak too soon
I normally don't go see movies that critics rave about. If people here say a movie is good, then I will go see it. 😊🐢
not sure if this counts as 'strange', but aside from THE BIG LEBOWSKI and HALLOWEEN: RESURRECTION, I cannot think of a single film that I've ever changed my opinion of, going from 'dislike' to 'like'...
When I first quite drinking, It drove me crazy when someone took a drink of whiskey in a movie. I almost died during the WILD BUNCH. The KILLER SHREWS had me drooling too.

Same thing happens to me when I see someone smoke a cigarette in a movie.

Me too.
I haven't had a smoke since 2009 but sometimes when I see someone light up a cig in a movie, I want one too.
I've never watched a single one of the ROCKY films, and have zero interest in doing so.
^ I haven't either.
Yet I must have seen RAGING BULL at least 5 times.
I have never seen any of the Star Wars prequels.
I have also never watched any of the Back To The Future films in their entirety. Bits and pieces but not the whole films.
FRIDAY 13th PART VIII: JASON TAKES MANHATTAN is unironically one of my favourite films of all time. (that's not strange Zombie, that just means you have crappy taste in movies - Ed)

I've only seen Rocky IV and that is a hoot!
I wanted to make a movie. I wanted to make a movie so badly, I took an hourglass, turned on my webcam, & videoed it.
That's how I found out my hourglass was an half-hour glass.
Congratulations on your first film!

That was a few years ago; I'll have to check, to see if I still have it. If I don't, it's no big loss; it took no real effort.
I can tell the difference between a film shot on film and a film shot digitally.
I've watched hundreds of movies, and yet I still maintain
WARCRAFT as my favorite.

You and me both. I don't see the enjoyment of watching realistic torture unless you're some kind of sadist, but to each its own. It's one of the reasons of why I kept myself away from stuff like
GAME OF THRONES; yay, an entire episode of watching some guy getting his genitals butchered and woman being raped, what a great piece of entertainment!
FTR, the genital mutilation is implicit/isn't onscreen. Actual sexual assault is also almost entirely offscreen. (There are wholly inappropriate/compromised relationships that would likely constitute "rape" legally from a contemporary perspective...) There is, however, no "entire episode" of any guy getting his genitals mutilated or any woman being raped. If that provides you w/ peace of mind.
I must have seen the BRAIN THAT WOULDN'T DIE at least 10 times. I saw it first on Ch.41 one afternooon for the first time with my 2 little brothers. They cancelled the ballgame on TV, so this came on. I was 13-1975. It was uncut!
As someone who loved Stephen King novels, I have yet to see a Stephen King movie adaptation that I've truly enjoyed, apart from the anthology movies like Cat's Eye and a couple of stories of Creepshow. The Dark Tower was pretty good, but I haven't read the books, so I can't make that comparison.
I never got into old classics like Metropolis or Nosferatu.
I can't stand any of the Mafia movies like Goodfellas, Casino, The Godfather trilogy, or anything like that. Just no. Probably because I watch movies for entertainment and escape, and movies like that are anything but.
Similarly, prison movies do nothing for me, except maybe Shot Caller, but that's because it's an extremely well made movies.
I LOVE Michael Bay movies. Okay, yeah, I said it.

No, I haven't. Is this something I should look into?
Now that I think of it, I enjoyed the heck out of Doctor Sleep, although I haven't read the novel. King's work took a more brutal turn in the early 90s, seeming to aim more for shock value than story, and I don't think I've read anything past The Dark Half.

I would recommend it, especially if you've read the short story.Just try to avoid any spoilers about how it ends.

Snap.
I don't like Star Wars or any of the sequels/prequels (Empire has good bits though) But I loved the cash-ins that came after the original in '77. Battlestar, Battle Beyond the Stars, Starcrash, The Humanoid etc.
I've never seen Forrest Gump

me neither... although it's one of those films that's so ubiquitous and culturally ingrained I feel like I've 'absorbed' it by osmosis, to the point where I don't need to see it anyway. plus I've never really liked Tom Hanks (I do like him in BIG though)

I understand exactly what you just said. That's exactly how I feel about this movie there's so many Clips so many references comedies so many quotes too many gifs... said or showed, it overwhelmed my passion to see the movie
Hi Trev!
I even had my mum playing the FOREST GUMP soundtrack cassette non stop for months when it came out (my fault as I bought it for her)... I almost feel like I've seen that film way too many times, despite never seeing it :teddyr:

That happened to me with
2001: SPACE ODISSEY. I tried to watch it once but got bored out of my skull, yet I understand most references.
