Canned condensed soup is a convenience product usually connected with nostalgia ("my mom used to make...").
A thickener and 'flavor' boost for casseroles and such. Somehow I get the feeling it is not used much for soup :teddyr:

No demand for condensed soup here in Germany. You'll have to add a certain amount of water or milk to thin it if you actually want soup from condensed soup. Why not just buy canned non-condensed soup that only needs heating? Well, that's where the casserole comes in. The condensed soup becomes the "sauce/gravy" in American casseroles.

Casseroles in Germany (and other countries, I assume) are usually made from scratch with fresh ingredients without "soup".

Do you do condensed soup?

Campbell's Bean with Bacon soup is a staple here at Chez Powell. The flavor is hard to recreate, and it's incredibly filling. Great for dieting but potentially fatal if you're on a low-sodium diet.

No. Only if there's zero food in the house.

I would mainly use the shrug emote for condensed soups since I don't eat soup all that often, and when I do it's mainly different types of Ramen. The only condensed soup I eat is cream of chicken. I don't use condensed soup for cooking/baking.

The only soup that I ever liked and really enjoyed and wanted more was my grandmoms soup in the 80s chicken soup, fresh parsley I remember it like it was yesterday still my favorite

We have bean with bacon soup here, but it is not condensed. No idea how it differs in taste from the campbell version.

Mostly I use condensed soup for cooking. Been experimenting a lot in my early-old years.

Kristi uses condensed soup a lot, mostly cream of mushroom for casseroles. I used to use it many years ago when we went on camping trips.
