Title: The Phantom of Disneyland
Post by: chainsaw midget on January 18, 2025, 06:08:17 AM
Here's a neat thing I just found out.  The Mainstreet Theater in Disneyland used to show old public domain silent movies.  Buster Keaton, Douglas Fairbanks, for example, but the one we're interested in here is the classic Lon Chaney Phantom of the Opera.

You see, they didn't just show Phantom of the Opera, they actually had the Phantom as a meet and greet characters walking around outside the theater.

Eventually they moved him over to the Haunted Mansion before they used stopped using him altogether.  Still the fact that the Phantom of the Opera once haunted Disney I thought was a pretty cool fact worth sharing.
