Title: COFFEE
Post by: zombie no.one on February 11, 2025, 04:49:54 AM
I always have one at breakfast, and now try to limit it to just one more at any point after that.

there's certain situations where the ability / urge to get in the habit of drinking crazy amounts of coffee in a day is way too tempting

I drink two cups of coffee in the morning when I'm at work.

In summer, one.
In winter, two.

Bruce Willis influenced me to try cappuccino and I've always liked it 😋☕

one place I worked had a free coffee machine, that was bad news :)
I could sometimes get through half a dozen.

also if I'm offered a coffee by someone else I never say no  :teddyr:

there's a record shop in my town that does coffee... for some reason I always have a cappucino there, but never anywhere else

do enjoy a cup of afternoon tea... use tea bags, never leaves (too fiddly)

also I way prefer filter coffee to instant.

this is my brand of choice...

Then you would like the best South African tea called Rooibos [Red Bush], best when hot and sweet. 😋🍵

Can't stand the stuff.  Bitter and nasty.

On the weekend or when I'm on vacation I'll drink up to 3 cups of coffee in the morning. On workdays, one cup in the morning and one cup at work.

around twenty years ago I had a friend Dan (sadly no longer here) who brought back some Rooibos from his trip to  SA. really nice..not like any tea I'd tasted before. kind of 'smokey' taste almost?

Yes indeed. Good to drink if you're not feeling well as it's also kind of a herbal tea 🍵😋

I don't think anyone is born liking coffee... I remember as a kid thinking it tasted vile and I expect most kids are the same?  definitely is the kind of taste that either come to appreciate or you don't. :shrugs:

Somewhere between 2 and 6, depending on how much you consider a "cup". Probably 4 large cups. I enjoy it in the morning but never drink it after lunch.

prob a good idea, it can seriously keep you more awake than you might want to be.

couple of years ago I started having oat milk in coffee, on the suggestion of my bro...instead of cows milk...tastes a lot better imo. in fact coffee with cows milk now tastes 'wrong'.

can't drink it black though. that really tastes wrong :)

I can't use nut milks in coffee. Too thin and watery for me. Actual cream is best, though I usually use half and half for convenience.

^ True. I tried coffee with dairy free milk a few times, it's like adding white water or something. Doesn't work for me.

well I only buy semi-skimmed (cows) milk anyway, so that's already not full creamy...

also I tried coffee using almond milk, which I thought would be nice, but in reality it wasn't.

used to have 1 sugar in coffee but managed to wean myself off that... I knew a girl who had FIVE sugars in tea + coffee, yikes

The 🐮 complain when they have to provide milk for my coffee 😳🥴😉

Personally, I haven't found any kind of redeeming use for nut milk. I tried overnight oats with almond milk and, it's just not the same, and it's AWFUL in cereal :bluesad:

oh yeah gotta have 'real' milk in cereal...

interesting fact: apparently coffee beans are not beans. they're seeds. what's the difference? I don't know.

Hmm... looking it up, a bean is a seed for a legume. Coffee's not a legume, so it doesn't have beans, apparently. I think?

this has reminded me of a Janet Jackson interview where she said she had 'coffee enemas'.... yeah time to quickly change subject I think

ah cool.

another interesting fact is that caffeine is a natural insecticide. so it's produced by the plant purely to stop insects eating them.

I always thought 'decaffeinated' coffee sounded like the most pointless thing in the world (bit like 0% alcohol beer?), but when I looked into it, it's just less caffeine, not zero caffeine. you can't have 0% caffeine coffee apparently

I generally drink coffee black, however I've been known to drink a mocha from tome to time.

Used to make my coffee stronger, but nowadays, it's just 2tsp of instant in a soup mug, half hot water, half protein shake, then I keep adding hot water as I drink it....

The coffee I drink is pretty weak. Regular home brewed coffee unfortunately makes me ultra paranoid. It affects my older sister the same way. I love coffee though.

weed made me very paranoid but coffee, not really... I guess all psychoactive substances can potentially have that effect though

kind of the opposite for me... enjoyed it at first, then started getting bad vibes every time I smoked it, but stupidly I didn't stop. sure it contributed a lot to my depression in my 20s... over 20 yrs since I last did it

I'll knock back some Red Bulls or Monster

I like coffee ice cream, think coffee smells good, and it takes me back to my grandparents drinking it when I was little, but except for maybe once a year dipping donuts into half coffee/half milk, I don't drink it. Funnily enough, my sixteen year old drank it daily from about thirteen til last fall, when the boarding school she started going to banned it. She's not going back next year, so it'll be interesting to see if she's kicked the habit or will start right back up. Sixteen going on thirty, that one.

In Boston and I'm sure elsewhere there are people who are really into coffee. They go to places like The Think Cup and blue bottle and pay lots of money for these slow poured artisanal thingies.

I do have to say when I was in college I used to buy this Ethiopian blend at starbucks and it was pretty awesome. I'm okay with just regular dang coffee though.

Same. Instant works fine for me but I do treat myself to a cappuccino now and then. 😊
