Seen: 9

I only own the recent release of MARDI GRAS MASSACRE which is hilarious.

I also think BOARDINGHOUSE is good fun

Never heard of before: 6

I think I would actually pay money to not sit through DON'T GO IN THE WOODS and SPLATTER UNIVERSITY again

Agreed on Boardinghouse being good fun. Also funny in an unintentional way (to me):

The Forest 1982
Sledgehammer 1983
A Night to Dismember 1983
Honeymoon Horror 1982

Weird:

Scream 1981
Skullduggery 1983
Dark Sanity 1982 (super-weird)

Painful to watch:

Splatter University 1984
The Hollywood Strangler Meets the Skid Row Slasher 1979
Shadows Run Black 1984

Boring AF:

Trick or Treats 1982
Boogeyman II 1983
Blood Theatre 1984
Deadly Games 1982

I'm not a fan of Don't Go in the Woods, but I don't hate it either. If anything, it was a rental staple back in early VHS days. Maybe because of the title? No idea.

yeah THE FOREST was funny... so 'innocent' if that's the right word. like a bunch of friends making a movie

Trick or Treats

yeah I'm not sure why I liked this one as much as I did... it's so tame, almost not a slasher? I thought it was ok though

Only 2!

I'm curious about the description of THE FORST as "innocent"... I recall at least two people get eaten... cannibalism never seemed "innocent" to me! There are also a couple of ghost kids, I think... maybe ghosts of kids who were also eaten? (I confess, it's been almost 30 years.) Do ghost kids count as "innocent"?

it's ages since I saw it but I seem to remember maybe the first 1/3rd being very tame and endearing 'buddies being buddies' type stuff... perhaps a rewatch in order

The early stretch of THE FORST was definitely very, very slow... so if "lack of action" equals innocence, I hear you.

And the cannibalism essentially happens off-camera, iirc... you just see some nice cuts of meat cooking on a campfire and somehow it's indicated that it's the previous victims. Compared to the cannibalism depicted in Italian films of the genre, you're right, it's pretty innocuous!

The Demon should have been on this list: South Africa's first slasher movie.
