Title: Trump announces plans for 100% tariffs on foreign-made films
Post by: LilCerberus on May 05, 2025, 12:59:46 PM
This, I find kinda goofy....
I mean, there's a few reasons American made films have been going under, lately...

Apparently, foreign films are a "National security threat."

Which is Trumpspeak for "something I don't like."

The man's an idiot. If he had any brains he'd take them out and play with them.
I think he doesn't mind having any REAL friends because he likely never had any as a child either. I think he was born was born a  vindictive, bitter old man.
How putting tariffs on forgien films is going to make American films any better is a mystery to me.

Yeah, slapping 100% tariffs on foreign films is like blaming subtitles for box office flops. The real problem isn't foreign competition. It's stale scripts, reboots nobody asked for, and streaming fatigue.

I suspect his dementia is getting worse and worse. I'll be surprised if he sees 2027, let alone the end of this year.

Of course, the unions are all for it...
Then again, I've never really been a fan of unions...

In South Africa, people are concerned as most of our films made here are made for streaming etc.

The person being interviewed in this is one of the very few people in the world that I genuinely detest.

I think there's two reasons Trump wants to do this.  One is so he can yelled "AMERICA!!!" and get people to clap.

Two, I think he's trying to actively hurt Hollywood.  He's wanted to be a part of the Hollywood scene for so long and they, for the most part, outright reject him.

(Little know fact:  His cameo in Home Alone 2 was because after he had already promised the producer and director they could film on his property and they had began shooting, he said that they wouldn't be allowed to continue without letting him appear.  The director filmed his scene with the full intention of cutting it but apparently test audiences thought it was funny so he said "what the hell," and left it in.)
