I'm putting this one under Bad Movies, because while I really didn't hate it. I wasn't blown away by it either. It is probably the weakest movie of the franchise so far. And I liked most of the other sequels.
Some spoilers below.
My biggest problem is that it completely backtracks on the whole dinosaurs living along side humans that was set up at the end of Dominion. Because of Earth's current climate, they've died out except for places around the equator. So once again the franchise has to go back to finding reasons to have people go to where the dinosaurs are.
Also this movie has some blatant exposition dumps. So much they characters tell instead of showing.
Plus it has one of the most annoying characters in the franchise, and its clear we're supposed to be on his side. This would have been a perfect movie to kill him off to remind people that we're supposed to be scared of these animals.
Speaking off, there are still hybrids in this movie. One is called the Mutodons and they are basically raptors mixed with pteresaurs. Not a bad design, more naturalistic then the other new hybrid-the D-Rex. This one is straight up a kaiju. It looks like it would be more at home in the Monsterverse then the Jurassic franchise. Heck, in a visual error, it clearly changed size between too scenes.
There where some fun sequences. but overall I hope the next movie is allowed to get back to what makes this franchise what it is.
a friend if mine saw it
said it looked like a cheap SyFy movie of the week
I dunno, I liked it, but then, it has been observed here that I am easily entertained.

Hate it or love it, JWR got lots of praise for its visual style, cinematography, VFX and sound design, plus it was shot on actual film (35mm Kodak), not digitally like SyFy movies.
Seems like your friend BS you :buggedout:
I swear CGI has not really 'improved' since the first one? if anything it's gone backwards
in terms of longevity, I thought the first J.P. sequel was milking it...

That's probably because the first uses a mix of practical effects and CGI.
Quote"Jurassic World: Rebirth" reportedly features improved CGI compared to previous installments in the franchise, with some reviewers praising the realistic depiction of the dinosaurs. However, others have noted that the overall visual experience, particularly in certain scenes, can appear "smudgy" or blurry. Despite this, many critics and audiences find the dinosaurs to be a highlight, with their size and movements feeling very lifelike.

if dinosaurs are not considered "a highlight" of your JURRASSIC PARK movie then I guess there's been a critical error somewhere along the line? :teddyr:

There are several Spielberg films I dislike but I think LOST WORLD is pretty easily his "worst" movie. Dreadful. Wotta' disappointment.
