Title: Superman (2025)
Post by: WingedSerpent on July 13, 2025, 07:21:04 PM
This turned out to be a lot of fun.  If this is the new direction for the DCEU, then its off on a pretty strong start.

Biggest thing this movie gets right is the idea that Superman is a good person.  He does what's right because that the right thing to do.  I also like that both Martha and Jonathon Kent are both still alive.  I always like versions of Superman where they live.  Clark doesn't need to have a tragedy to motivate him.

I also liked Guy Gardner Green Lantern. They got the fact about him being somewhat of a jerk down perfectly.  Would have preferred Kyle Rayner as the DCEU's GL-but what can you do?  I'll say the one thing I didn't like is that they used his one outfit from the JLI days. He's corps outfit would have worked better for me.

This movie is also going to make people fans of Mr. Terrific.  Hopefully it boasts his visibility in the comics again.

While there are a few moments of "Marvel Humor" in the film, feels like they got it to a better level.  Used to alleviate a tense scenes rather than undercut it.

So I enjoyed this one.

I found it very enjoyable, although not the definitive version of the character. Still a breath of fresh air after the all too serious Snyder version of the character. And I liked that he is more "alien" than Christopher Reeve's take on the character, although in a more humorous fashion than Snyder's.

I liked it a lot, but I think it could use a prequel because a lot of things in the movie aren't explained.

You don't see when Lois finds out Clark is Superman.

Luthor would have to be really crazy for his only motivation against Superman to be envy in this version.

Superman's cousin appears and leaves very suddenly.

I mean, those of us who already know Superman's lore have a blast, but it can be overwhelming for those who don't know much about him.

Eh, it's in media res for those of us who have seen the origin story a few times. Superman's cousin Kara will be back in her own movie next year.

I hear it's very good. I might check it out eventually, only cause I like James Gunn.

I'm just not a fan of Superman, overall.

I bought the blu-ray a few weeks ago and boy was I disappointed. This ain't my Superman! I thought they would do something interesting with Krypto, but I thought the "cute" doggie scenes were dialed up to 11 on the cringe meter.
