Germans do not celebrate Thanksgiving like Americans because their history and cultural traditions are different.

Germans celebrate "Erntedankfest" (Harvest Thanksgiving Festival) which is a traditional Christian harvest festival that predates the American Thanksgiving.
It is typically celebrated on the first Sunday of October.
