I can't post a link here but the offer is $72 billion and this can't be good 😳😳😳
I hate superconglomorates. But the bright side is this would be good for Netflix subscribers, bringing a ton of classic movies to the platform.
Unfortunately, too many companies thought they could start up their own streaming services and make money. The market was always going to end up constricting into just a few winners.
Well... that's it for theaters, I guess.
This is bad news. WB was one of the last studios that was big enough to challenge Disney. To see them go down like this kind of hurts. Yeah, I know they are technically still going to be around (at least for a while) but its nothing more than just a name now.
This does not sound good at all for the future of cinema, but I wonder how much of the old WB catalogue that Netflix will put online? Server space can be expanded, but at what cost, and how much will be worth it to them?
Looks like someone else wants in on the act: https://techcrunch.com/2025/12/08/paramount-goes-to-war-with-netflix-for-warner-bros-discovery-with-hostile-108-4b-bid/
Just about to post that myself, from another source:

This is becoming an epic saga!
My understanding is that both Paramount and Netflix havr huge amounts of debt already. I wonder where the money for this is coming from?
