Title: Plan 9 (no, not from outer space)
Post by: chainsaw midget on May 12, 2026, 10:27:16 AM
I recently watched Plan 9 (2015) and I would recommend it to other bad movie fans.  It's something and I think that something should be seen.  It's not a good enough movie to be good, but it's not really bad enough to be memorable.

It's more or less a remake of Plan 9 from Outerspace but with less focus on the aliens, more focus on the zombies, more blood, and full frontal nudity (both male and female).  It's actually far closer to a standard zombie movie for the most part.

The movie does have characters that mostly resemble Vampira, Tor Johnson, and Bela Lugosi's characters (although our Bela stand-in looks absolutely nothing like the Bela.  He does wear a vampire cape though.  because it's Halloween.  Halloween has nothing to do with the plot, there's no decorations, nobody else is in costume.

Also the Bela,Tor,Vampira characters really have nothing to do with the actual plot.  In fact, they don't do much of anything.

It's mostly zombies running around eating people.  There are a few aliens that show up in the last third of the movie.  This is also the point where the military shows up and decideds to try to kill everyone in town to contain this.

There's about two dozen characters in this movie and all of them are pretty much one-note, with various levels of acting ability.   I do think the guy playing "Criswell" was actually trying to be over the top and bad though.)

The movie is also... not tongue in cheek, but it wants to make lots of references to other better (or even equally bad) movies.  The thing is sent in Nilbog for example.

As for actors, it's got Mister Lobo (a horror host if you've never heard of him), the Angry Videogame nerd, and Brian Krause (who's been in Charmed, Sleepwalkers, and Return to the Blue Lagoon).

Cool movie, I will check it out someday.

As long as we've brought him up -
In ONCE UPON A TIME IN HOLLYWOOD, did Mr. Lobo play the movie theater manager who lets S. Tate in for free? Or is it somehow just a guy who looks exactly like the odd-looking Mr. Lobo?
