Title: Hokum (2026)
Post by: WingedSerpent on May 25, 2026, 07:23:35 PM
This was a good folk horror movie. Bit of a slow burn, but plenty of atmosphere.

Adam Scott stars as a writer staying at a hotel in Ireland, that is said to be haunted by the spirit of a witch. Not going to go into much more, because its better to go in fresh with this one.

I recommend it.

Do you like Adam Scott normally? I find him to be a deal breaker much of the time. He was okay in MADAME WEB  in a limited role but I can't take him in strong doses. This is playing 5 minutes away from me and I'd have rushed to see it if it starred nearly anyone else. (...Well, notwithstanding Vince Vaughn, Ethan Hawke... Jim Caviezel... okay, "MOST anyone else".)

I've got nothing against him.  I liked his performance here.  Yes, he's unlikable for a lot of the movie, but that's more the character he's playing rather than the actor himself.

Honestly, I don't think I've seen a lot of his movies. But that has nothing to do with him. It's just that's how things have worked out.

Maybe he just chooses to play a lot of unlikeable characters...
