From what I've been hearing, the guys considered Boston to be much more fun. How I explained things to Kristi though was that the Tartan army is like a fantastic one night stand. You'll have great fun and a lot of memories, and yeah you'll want more but in the morning they are going to be gone and have moved on to someone else.

Funnily enough Tennants is like the baseline beer in Scotland and not considered anything special. It's available everywhere, although having tasted a lot of beers and lagers in the US I can understand why it would suddenly become much more popular. It is also about 50 to 100% more powerful than most of their domestic produce.

Should've learned "You take the high road", the Runrig version. I suspect if that had been played in the baseball stadium they all went to the resulting foot stomping and jumping up and down would have resulted in the stands collapsing.

I hear German fans in Canada have been singing "No Scotland No Party". At the last European international competition (the name escapes me), Scotland took over a small town in Germany for the duration of their stay. Afterwards, the town submitted a petition of 50,000 signatures asking for a biannual Scotland/Germany football match to be played between the two nations in the town.

I do have to say well done to the vast majority of Boston's citizenry (and the surrounding area) for just going along with it. It can't be easy having your city invaded by 10 to 20,000 outsiders who drink most of your alcohol and play bagpipes. I did hear of the occasional grumpy person but they were a tiny minority as far as I can tell and most likely just need to have a good night out, maybe get laid. As a thank you, the Tartan army did raise around $30,000 in donations to local charities, not to mention how much they've spent in the area itself ($35 million to Providence at an initial estimation).
