For those of you interested, the DAREDEVIL trailer is now widely available on the internet, having been released with the new movie MINORITY REPORT. (I haven't done any research for URL's. They're not that hard to find.)
It's not a great trailer. I couldn't help thinking "So he likes wearing leather and hanging out in dark alleys at night. Nothing wrong with that, not in this progressive age." Whatever.
Personally, I don't really like superheros that much in the first place. I have several well worded and thought out debates on how they are the ghettoization of the comic book medium, but I won't go into that here. Here's what I see for the future: SPIDERMAN was a box office sensation (and a very good movie). With that kind of money, and the now willingness for studios to reap the comics field for hot properties, I see a hoard of superhero movies hitting the theaters. None of these movies will approach the level of respect and artistry that SPIDERMAN hit. (Well, I still have hopes for Ang Lee's HULK.) Be prepared for an onslaught of crap. In fact, the early 2000's may be remembered for the fad of spandex heros.
But enough of my Cassandra complex and the fact that I'd love to see the superhero genre fall flat on its ass in the comics field. Just thought some of you might be interested in the trailer.

Comic books started with superheros and suoerheros will always be around. Honestly, would you prefer all comics to be totally realistic and involve ordinary people? Nah, if you're going to put something into a visual medium such as doodlebooks, make the stories and characters larger than life. It's like anime and manga fans who laud the storytelling and srtistry of japanimation, when most of it is superviolent cartoon porn. There are good superheros and bad superheros, good animes and bad ones. I don't have a lot of hope for Daredevil, The Hulk should kick copious ass with Ang Lee at the helm, and X-Men 2 is shaping up nicely. Be thankful we're not seeing the types of superhero films that were made in the '80s and early '90s (Superman 2-4, Captain America, The Punisher), at least now people behind super movies seem to know what they're doing.

Kinda puts it into perspective, with a giggle. There's a reason some superheroes remain icons in spite of awful treatment, and some return to obscurity as soon as the "hot talent" leaves the book.
"Don't make me Ang Lee. You wouldn't like me when I'm Ang Lee."

I doth expecteth crapeth superhero wise. I don't mind superheros nessarily, but i have high expectation for the stories. The only superhero comic i collect is Astro City, and that has been aggrvatingly long between issues! The writing is Eisneresque, but the publication dates!...........Sheesh! DD is a good character, but if the director/producer has no feeling for the subject matter........oh well.
The only superhero boks I ever read regularly were SPider-Man and Wolverine. I stopped reading Spidey around six years ago, during the whole clone thingy when the only way to follow the story was to buy seven different Spider titles a month. I quit Wolverine around issue # 102, when the interesting storyline involving Logan's vulnerability due to losing his adamantium was ditched in favor of reintroducing the metal skeleton and turning him into a sweetly retarded dog. I began hopping off when he licked Cyclops' face.
I'm going to avoid this movie when it comes out, since anything with Ben Affleck isn't of my liking(even Jennifer Garner in scanty leather doesn't help).
The Hong Kong-esque fight scenes are also too much overkill for me(as were "Charlie's Angels"' s horribly performed, way overdone fight sequences).
Only Michael Duncan Clarke as Kingpin(an interesting casting choice, even though Kingpin is white)is a pretty good idea, and may be the movie's saving grace.
Other than that, these are just only my opinions--I'm sure everyone else will immediately rush to see this, once it's released, and give it a mega-box office revenue grossing(which is rising higher and higher, these days).
Ugh....I don't really like that casting choice for Kingpin, but if the real character still comes through it'll be okay. I wonder if he'll wear a fat suit.
I would have picked someone like Anthony Hopkins, but he's probably out of their league.
Spiderman is doing well, therefore the public likes superheroes again. A bunch of flops will come out and then the studios will decide that the public is tired of superheroes and stop making them. They have no ability to evaluate quality.
I just wish they'd get a decent director to make another Batman movie. Of course after the damage Joel Spewmacher did, the studios have probably decided that Batman isn't popular enough for another movie.
Darren Aronofsky, director of PI and REQUIEM FOR A DREAM is slated to direct BATMAN: YEAR ONE. He is, in my opinion, a very good director.
Funny that they got some very good directors to helm this new wave of superhero movies. Ang Lee, Sam Raimi, Darren Aronofsky and Bryan Singer (previously known for cult favorite THE USUAL SUSPECTS). But these were all in production before SPIDERMAN hit the big time. Who knows what the next wave will be like? DAREDEVIL is directed by the man previously known for directing SIMON BIRCH and writing JACK FROST. No, not the good JACK FROST.
Just thought I'd mention Guillermo del Toro. I'd never heard of him before BLADE II, but I was greatly impressed with that movie. Sort of a bloodier version of Robert Rodriguez. Previously known for CRONOS and MIMIC, he's now set up for directing the HELLBOY movie. Also, his DEVIL'S BACKBONE was released today.
Who knows? Maybe I was a bit hasty in my original post. There may actually be some quality flicks coming down the line.
But I still think DAREDEVIL is going to hurt like hell.
...there was a GOOD "Jack Frost?" HTH?

Actually there was one truly awful one, and one that made you want to pluck your eyes out with your mother's broaches.
I'll let you decide which one is which.
One Jack Frost was a crappy family film starring former Batman Michael Keaton, the other is a so-so direct-to-videoslasher flick.

I knew that! I've seen about five minutes of both movies. Five minutes is more than they both deserved. : )

I'd have to watch them in or to decide. Pass. : )
...man..i was into daredevil comics in the late 80s...it really is a cool character...blinded by an accident and uses a sort of psychic sonar to "see" things...therefore he can spot objects coming at him...but also monitor someones heartbeats to see if they are under stress or lying...
...but of course the movie will suck...
if darren aronofsky does do the next batman installment...i will be there though...and anticipating that one waaayyyy more than spiderman...i knew what to expect with that one...raimi or no raimi...hollywood raimi and jackson kinda suck (compared to their earlier-selves).
aronofsky: PI was really cool...and...uh...did you see requiem for a dream???...almost as depressing and dark as the book...bring on the batman!!!
