Title: Los Luchadores, Muy Bueno!
Post by: El Chupacabra on April 09, 2001, 01:13:36 AM
Has anyone here seen "Los Luchadores"?  It
really is a must for b-movie fans; Mexican
wrestlers, in goofy costumes, engaging in
badly choreographed fight scenes with
blue devils, talking stone heads, evil
Chihauhuas (!)... wow, what a queso-fest!
4 slimes: If you liked the old Batman
(w/Adam West) you'll like this, and who
doesn't?  I feel a second childhood
coming on...

Oh yes, it plays at 8:30, every Saturday
morning on Fox.  Do watch it.

Live action, or animation?

Live action, of course.  Wonderful b-movie/tv setup, you have the older, wiser luchador who lives with honor and a fake accent, his stupid comic relief sidekick, and the token female who doesn't really do anything.  They actually had an episode on today which involved an ancient polynesian deity living in a nearby mountain awakened by Sidekick's ultra-loud pen stereo.  In order to gain ultimate power, it had to consume 3 ancestors of another polynesian deity, who just happened to live in the general luchador vicinity.  Unfortunately, one of them happened to be Token Female.  I'm not even going to think about how a blonde honky girl of supposedly Mexican descent can be an ancestor of an ancient polynesian deity, or what another ancient polynesian deity would be doing lying dormant in a mountain in an anonymous superhero town.  The rest of the time is mostly taken up by bad puns, ludicrous fight scenes against people in hula skirts, pathetic attempts to speak Spanish, and some of the worst acting I've ever seen on a children's show.  Even Power Rangers was somewhat better executed (though marginally).  I'd recommend it to just about anybody who loves cheeseiness, which probably includes everyone on this board.

Just watched this yesterday, pretty funny stuff. It's great. Even got the lame "Don't this at home kids" message and a fan club.
