Title: TRANSFORMATIONS: A film from Empire Pictures that seems to be lost?
Post by: Chris K. on July 04, 2002, 12:28:39 AM
Empire Pictures has made some well known titles (at least to film buffs) like RE-ANIMATOR and FROM BEYOND. And yet, their are some Empire Pictures flicks like SPELLCASTER and CATACOMBS that seem to be "lost".

If their was ever a lost Empire film, it would be TRANSFORMATIONS, not to be mistaken with the film TRANSMUTATIONS (which was originally titled UNDERWORLD and released by Empire as well). Made in late 1988 when Empire was close to shutting down, TRANSFORMATIONS did have a limited theatrical release but sadly has not shown up on video.

Has anybody ever heard of this lost Empire film or know of where I can get a hold of a copy?

Chris,

I can tell you that this was definitely released on home video, because I have it on laserdisc in my collection.  Cannot remember seeing a VHS of it before, but if it was put out on LD, then it also being released on VHS is a good bet.

As far as the film goes - not awful, but definitely not great.  I'd give it 2 slimes.

"Transformations" was released on a $9.95 budget video version by Starmaker Video around 1990-1991.
It was a pretty decent movie, that pre-dated "Alien 3" in the prison planet story,as well as use an alien disease as an AIDS metaphor.
Look very, very hard for this video,guys...
