Post by: kriss emmett on July 05, 2002, 04:20:39 AM
Why oh why did metal gear solid although a break through in curtian shuting game play have to be based on the escape from la and new york movies.

First of all the character in mgs is snake right, coincidence maybe.
no the fact that at the begining of the game we see snake in a prison cell with long hair and snake tattoo ala escape from.......

also in the recent mgs2:sons of liberty game for PS2 when the mysterious figure (snake is asked his name he reply's "Pliskin" maybe thats spelt wrong but do you all agree that this is taking ripp offs a bit to far?

The Metal Gear games have many references to action movies, you just have to look. For instance, the stealth camo looks an awfully lot like the Predator in stealth mode. Many games have refenrences and in-jokes that are meant for fanboys, because the designers themselves and the gamers tend to be fanboys.

Just look at Duke Nukem, A whole franchise based on Ash! I don't remember them thanking sam raimi or anything. Unless there are thanks in the liner notes or something.

Um...no... Duke Nukem is not a "whole franchise based on Ash."  There are quotes used from the Army of Darkness movie, but there are quotes used from other movies as well.  For example, the "I'm here to kick ass and chew bubblegum, and I'm all out of gum" quote comes from a movie called They Live.  I don't remember Ash fighting a bunch of aliens either.

well I mean the character is based alot around ash and most of the quotes are from ash etc. Maybe not completely based on ash.
