Title: John Frankenheimer is dead.
Post by: Neville on July 08, 2002, 06:02:08 AM
Heard in the news that Frankenheimer died a couple of days ago after a back operation went wrong and caused him an embolia. Frankenheimer was 74 and was one of the last living members of the generation wich includes people like Sidney lumet and Arthur Penn.

Though a classic 50s-60s director (you may remember "The birdman of Alcatraz", "Seven days of May" or "The Manchurian candidate"), Frankenheimer was extremely active during the 90s, when he made several TV films ("Against the wall" may be the best one) and also more movies, such as the memorable (though not as he probably wanted) "The island of DR. Moreau", "Ronin" (one of his best films ever) and "Reindeer games" A sad loss.

That's no good! The Manchurian Candidate and Sevenr days in May were tthe best suspensers ever! He could really do thrillers! I also thought Ronin was pretty great. He'll be missed.
