I caught another "teaser" for the upcomign flick "signs". I like that nothing is really shown (yet) of what is to be the main focus of the film - speculation the obvious: aliens. But wouldn't it be amusing if what's really rolling those crop circles out and ends up attacking everyone is.....Critters? Cheap rubber puppets and all.
Probably one of the more anticipated films i'm hoping to catch this summer anyhow. And still wondering if it's going to be an alien movie where once again teh aliens are trying to put a stop to mankind once and for all..muahahaha!
They don't like us out there do they?
It's from the writer/director of the cerebral and creepy flicks The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, so expect the unexpected.
Also he compares refers to this movie as his version of Night of the Living Dead.

And I think we can expect a twist ending.
Th Sixth Sense was mostly boring but Unbreakable was cool. The previews for this look good, I'm gonna go see it with a positive attitude. Here's hoping for an awesome flick.
I'm pretty much the opposite of Lee, in that I loved THE SIXTH SENSE and hated UNBREAKABLE.
SIGNS could be good, but it seems too much like both his other movies.
Also, whenever the preview asks "What could bend stalks like this?" I have to answer "Guys with plywood." Crop circles are among the least mysterious things I can think of.
But I'll let the movie speak for itself when it comes out.
Just a tidbit of info: Crop circles became popular in the news as signs of alien life, naturally it's people with alot of time on their hands in rural areas. However the phenomenon of crop circles is a natural occurance (except just single random circles..not connected..no designs) that is attributed to cyclone type winds...sort of like dust devils but stronger. When people realized they got media attention for it, well..you know how it goes. Well that was useless trivia....
I just hope it's not another 2001 or Mission Mars "Aliens welcoming us to the intergalactic brotherhood", and at the same time they're not going to destroy us. I hope it's right in the middle. I don't know why, but the scene in the trailer where the news reporter says, "These images may be disturbing," really intrigues me.

No...then the entire film turns into an episode of Spongebob, which I feel is REALLY corrupting our nation's youth.
Yes, Chadzilla, expect a twist ending...that makes COMPLETE sense.
But will it be a twist ending like "Dark City", something Twilight Zone-ish (like the episode where this couple wakes up and finds themself in a deserted town and cannot get out. They drank alot the nite before. Then at the end a giant shadow swwops over them and they screeeeaaaammmmmm!)
Turns out it was a
giant little girls hand, because her daddy picked up these cute little earthling pets for her to play with.
Or maybe we'll find out something about the corn & other vegitative crops. That it's alive, has feelings, and it wants revenge for years of us eating them alive!

Let me tell 'yall a funny story:
Last September, I phoned up my Mom at her place of work (a Catholic church) ... I just wanted to say hi. She replied excitedly, "I can't talk right now. Mel Gibson's sitting here in my office." I thought she was kidding.
Here, the movie shot in the PA town where I grew up, and the production crew was looking to lease the church parking lot for a week as a secluded spot to park the trailers. I think they sent Mel in to charm my mom into cutting them a deal. But they did cut a deal and that's where the cast/crew stayed.
It's going to be weird seeing the movie -- regardless of whether it sucks or not -- because it filmed at several spots I knew all too well as a kid.
Considering the director has made his reputation with the 'twist' endings of The Sixth Sense and Unbreakable, yes it does make complete sense.
Still it looks like the more unique summer movie this year.
Then again the studio is dumping it in August, never a good *ahem* 'sign'.
But we're going to go see it, neverless.

Well if the church itself wasn't leased out that's another sign. I thought maybe it would be signs of the apocolypse (as stated in the bible..you know, dead rising to have their murders avenged, locusts, creatures eating and torturing people.lol)
Btw I wasn't big on "The Sixth Sense" - i appreciated this style of horror/thriller because frankly none have been around. But at the same time "Stir of echoes" came out that year which I thought was much better, it put cliches in the film the audience was used to falling for and did nothing..making the unexpected truly a suprise. And when "Unbreakable" came out i thought it was ok but i think my appreciation grew for it each viewing. I liked a darker look at "superheros and villians" in a more realistic light. Nobody was wearing spandex tights, nobody was shouting ridiculous lines like "You'll get yours! muahaha!"
Guys with plywood. Yep, thats pretty much what i said. And, therefor, i'm not too sure of this one. I know, but that one simple thing make me go "Oh, come on. It was the SFX crew, they did it!" Such a simple thing, yet it stubbs the toe of my willing suspension of Disbelief. Oh well.
Alien plant beings infest the nations crop with "Lethal Texture". A Quicky mart employee is attack by a bag of Doritos.(Ohh, goodness gracious me, i am about to be devowered by snack food), And the tag line. "How does it feel...when the corn stalks YOU!?"....................man, its been a long day....................
I am looking forward to watch "Signs". I enjoyed "The 6th sense", but I felt the final surprise was the main reason for the whole thing. Personally, I'd have liked to see what happenned if ghosts were not that nice. Anyway, I loved "Unbreakable" and I am quite happy with Shyamalan's success. At last a director who knows how to make comercial films without taking for granted that audiences can't think.
I can't remember where I heard this, but I heard that the twist in the end has to do with Mel Gibson's religious faith more than aliens. In the movie, he is a former preacher who has lost his faith. Again, I can't remember where I heard this.

From what I've read, the plywood method crushes and breaks the stalks, while in true crop 'circles' the stalks are bent over, but not broken and will continue to grow.
