Bruce Lee Is Still the KING
by Tommy “Kick Buttâ€
Forget Jackie Chan, Jett Li, David Carradine, Chuck Norris etc... Bruce Lee is the Ultimate martial artist now and forever. The Legend of Bruce Lee has been fading due to new kung-fu stock, but Bruce is still the best. Anyone who’s ever seen a Bruce Lee movie will tell you how flawless his techniques were. The fight sequences are still the best to this day. Actually, Bruce had to slow down, because the camera couldn’t catch his movements. Watch a Bruce Lee documentary and you’ll see how fast he really was. It’s been said that Bruce moved 3-times the speed of an average man.
Bruce Lee preached innovative ideas in a time when society hung onto “old†values. One of this most memorable quotes was, “... if you copy something, you bring nothing new to this world. You fail to see the world as it really is â€" anew.†He always referred to himself as a martial artist first then an actor. Bruce was brash, cocky and challenged anyone openly. He once stated “... I can beat anyone.†Just about everyone who knew him agreed. Bruce was always training for that ultimate fight, sadly it never came. Friends have said that if you wanted to fight Bruce Lee, you didn’t have to ask twice, he found you.
Today people still speculate about what would happen if Bruce and Jackie went at it, or Jett Li, Van Damme, but please give me a break. Bruce would take all those guys at once, just ask Chuck Norris, Bob Wall or Joe Lewis â€" All were martial arts champions who trained with Bruce. Bruce Lee was the real deal, and he told you what he thought. For instance, if Bruce saw a 5-yr. old wearing a black belt, he scrutinized the instructor. That was just his way of saying “keep things real, because someday your life may depend on it.†Bruce took the martial arts seriously, to hime it was not a sport or a business, but a way of life. I can't wait to play the game.
Bruce Lee paved the way for everyone else. He is and always will be a major influenced in martial arts.
Fear not,Tommy and Erik, for the memory of Bruce Lee will always live on forever very vividly(ala Led Zeppelin,Elvis, and the Beatles),thanks to all of the numerous martial arts magazines and outlets that will let his legend live on,since he was the trendsetter for the martial arts that started it all for everybody that's out there in the movies today.
Sadly enough, his legacy has been tarnished a bit. First, the very innacurate movie. Now a video game called Quest Of The Dragon, in which the player controls a rendering of Bruce Lee. There are even plans to make movies with a CGI rendering of his face plastered on a stand-in.
