I remember a post a while back about how companies produce special editions of movies and choose to ignore the artwork from the original movie, Or alter it a little bit. I came across the dvd for the amazingly hilarious "Better Off Dead". Although the dvd has NO special features they decided to add insult to injury and create some AWFUL artwork. THe original had John Cusak sitting on a bridge with all of the other characters around him, ann in a very cartoony way. This new one sort of tryes to duplicate it, only with the characters in the reflections of his glasses. It didn't work. What other movies can you think of with awful artwork on the dvd release? I can think of The millenium Night of the living dead. any others?

Here are a couple that had their cool artwork stashed over for different DVD front cover posters/pictures.
Fright Night
Reform School Girls
Any Fred Williamson/Pam Grier 70s Blaxpolitation Outing
The Protector(Jackie Chan)
Halloween 2
Friday The 13th Parts 5 and 6
Texas Chainsaw Massacre Part 2
Friday The 13th(figurette of Jason's Mom,replacing cool 1980 poster)
Nightmare on Elm Street Part 1-5
Freddy's Dead(The Final Nightmare)
(Wes Craven's)New Nightmare
I definitely agree on the TCM2 cover; I like Dennis Hopper and all, but a shot of him just can't compete with the original "Breakfast Club" cover.
Oh yeah, and say what you will about the Better Off Dead DVD cover, it beats the current VHS cover: Just Cusack's mug on black. That's it.
Some of them are better than the orginals, but I do miss the original "Adventures of Buckaroo Banzai" cover. Heck, I have kept my laserdisc just to have the cover around and I do have the DVD. I was glad to see that "The Beastmaster" DVD had the original cover art on the inside.
The rental store that I got it from had the original VHS cover :p
Evil Dead 2 (the special edition disc has some messed up art).
Every Romero Dead film.
"What other movies can you think of with awful artwork on the dvd release?"
The King Kong v. Godzilla dvd has images from at least two different movies on it, none of which are actually from the movie in question.
(Ask for examples and I immediately think of a Godzilla movie. Don't know whether to be proud or not...)
