It isn't that bad.  Hammer made worse.

Hammer made a lot worse.

                      Please don't say that,Lester.
It's one of Hammer Films' more interesting Frankenstein entries, with Peter Cushing coming off more like Herbert West, than Dr. Frankenstein, and the monster here is a sympatheic being that's angered at what's happened to him.
Hammer Films are the best of their kind, and had helped elevate horror to a higher stature, with their classy balance of chills, gore, and nudity in every one of their great movies.
And all of their films' actors and filmmakers were all very talented, and as completely flawless as the films they were in,too.
Title: I still say

serously though there were no chills gore or nudity in this.  It was like a play.  and it was too long.  I like alot of Hammer stuff though, especially Rasputin and pretty much any movie with a tribal/ devil dance scene (which is alot of old movies!!!).  Hammer can be very bwitish at times.  Stranglers of Bombay was like that,  alot of stuffy pirate people talking and so forth.  I caught this one on laserdisk, by the by
