It's a good thing I put a little space between watching this movie and reviewing it, otherwise this post would be nothing but a raging torrent of profanities.
THE CORONER is f**king stupid. I don't swear very often on this board. I usually try to find other words that more creatively express my distaste for a movie. Not in this case. THE CORONER is f**king stupid, and everybody involved in the making of the movie should be f**king shot. (Or at least maimed.)
Gee, I hope Andrew has turned off the board censoring, or the above paragraph is going to look pretty stupid.
Here's the story: Emma, played by the amazingly in-shape Jane Longenecker, is a young defense attorney, not afraid to resort to underhanded tactics while defending her clients. This has made her a lot of enemies in the law enforcement business. Suddenly, she is shot with a blowgun and kidnapped by a maniac. Our maniac is a pudgy, pasty, balding, middle-aged white man. We are introduced to him while he is wearing nothing but a "Kiss the Cook" apron. Yup, it is intimidating as it sounds. So anyway, he tortures her for a bit, she escapes, is caught, tortured again, then she escapes for real.
So then she goes to the police. The police, of course, don't believe her. And it's in this "of course" attitude the movie shows that really p**ses me off. Everybody in this movie is sided against our young heroine, and it's never explained why. Nobody believes her for an instant. I'm willing to believe that one or two police officers are incredulous and criminally negligent, but an entire metropolitan police department? I don't f**king think so. I wouldn't have minded nobody believing her so much, but it's almost the entirety of the movie. I was actually shaking my fist in anger at this movie being so goddamn stupid.
Anyway, at the end she kills the guy by impaling him and then slicing his throat open with a sword.
The IMDb comments (http://us.imdb.com/Title?0121152) all agree this movie is awful, but the Amazon comments (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/stores/detail/-/video/6305761868/customer-reviews/002-4818481-2375245) are actually sort of entertainingly bizarre. Check out the one about Jodie Foster.
Honestly, this movie is a SKULL. If anything in the above post makes you actually want to see this movie, I'm sorry. I've failed in my duty. Avoid this one like the plague.
