Title: Goldmember-thoughts (no spoliers)
Post by: D on July 31, 2002, 11:49:31 PM
Well, I just got back from watching Mr. Myers in "Austin Powers-Goldmember". I could go on and on about how it was nothing more than a bunch of sight gags strung togther, but that would pointless. I will, however say one thing in it's defense, it had (as a friend of mine who watched too much ECW would say) :EXTREME MIDGET VIOLENCE! That (along with a camo by damn near everyone) was pretty much the only saving point of the film. Well, I think Miss Beyonce has some potential, but not enough to save the film

I thought that plotwise it was the worst of the 3.  But Sight gag wise it was the best. Plus the jokes on itself were great. Anyway, I don't think there's gonna be 4. Or at least, I hope not.

With all of the money that it's made, there definitely will be a fourth Austin Powers, whether or not anyone wants it.
And,with the villain stories of Dr. Evil,Mini-Me,and Fat Bastard all closed up,there'll bring in a new, more nutty villain for Austin to confront,as well as a luscious new heroine.
I'd say let's have Bruce Campbell as the new villain, since he can hold his own in a film like this(and team up with Scott Evil to try to destroy the world),Asia Argento as the new Austin babe(she's ready for these type of movies, and a much bigger career lift),and let's give Mini-Me a girlfriend in Bridget "The Midget" Powerz, which would help elevate his character a bit,as well as a bigger role for Mr. Bigglesworth, who was practically left out of this new movie.

Yeah, Bruce Campbell would rock as a villian. i found Goldmember really funny though, but  I guess it's just a like it or hate it movie
