Title: The limits of Kaiju Eiga. Or: When Mankind learns to kick ass.
Post by: Flangepart on August 05, 2002, 10:50:28 AM
Heres a thought. Have you ever concitered how narrow the field of action is, in Kaiju Eiga? .........................What i mean is, If humans were too primitive, technologicly, we would be totaly out of the ball park when the monsters come to call. Little ants hideing in the dirt, and haveing no part in the monster brawls. Too high a tech level, and the monsters, at least as we're familure with them, are delt with and gone. A star Destroyer, for examples, could blast a kaiju from orbit, and unless it was, say, Gamera, they would be immune to retaliation. At man's current level of Tech, though, there is room for battle. I'm looking forward to the new Mecha Godzilla. It looks realy buff. But, i guess it makes my point, as well. ...............Anyway, my thought is, what would it take for humans to deal with the "Kaiju Problim", and how would the creatures have to adapt , to keep competitive? Maby something like the giant space entity in star Trek/next gen? .....hummm............."Kaiju.....in....spaaaaaace!" Or is that too big a scale to work with?

Well, we know that kaiju can generally stand up to conventional weapons. Not sure if anybody has tried nuclear weapons on them, but that would be very difficult, unless it was used in the middle of the ocean.

I suppose the wave motion gun, from Star Blazers, could probably take out any Kaiju. In space, against Gamera or Space Godzilla, that wouldn't be a problem. Against a Kaiju on the ground, you risk losing a pretty big chunk of the continent it's on.

Any thoughts on phasers or photon torpedoes?

Of course, a sufficiently advanced race need not destroy Kaiju. The Planet X aliens had no trouble immobilizing Godzilla and Rodan, and transporting them across space.

How about having all those suicide bombers line up and having all the Kaijus chow down on them.  It's like killing two problems with one bomb.

Here's a thought. Who would win a fight between Godzilla and the mobile infantry from Starship Troopers? I'm talking about the original Heinlein book, not the crappy movie.

Other ideas:

Godzilla vs. USS Enterprise (any of them)
Godzilla vs. spaceship Yamato
(both of these include the crew as well as the ship)
Godzilla vs. Voltron
Godzilla vs. Evangelion
Godzilla vs. the Dragonball Z fighters
Godzilla vs. Superman (although this does not have anything to do with technology)
Godzilla vs. the Hulk (same with this)

Hummm....The Dragonball gang might make for a good fight scene. ..........................Superman might use Krypton technology. As a super being with intelligance, he could incase Godzilla in an anti-gravity sphere, and boost him into space, maby finding a passing alien freighter to put him on some primitive planet where he can't bother anyone.....till Brainiac or Darksied finds him and puts him to work.( Supe's Vs. Alien 2,anyone?)........................................................... Hulk Vs. Green Hulk, lots of metropolitan butt gets waxed. "Hulk smash Lizard!!" ....Mobile Infantry? If movie, they'd nuke him. If Heinlein, they'd nuke him. Either way, casualties will resault.

Hmmmm. Alien offers possibilities. Let's say a facehugger implants an embryo in King Ghidorah, and the resulting alien is a gigantic three-headed flying beast with acid blood, armour plating, metallic jaws, two razor-sharp tails and a second set jaws that shoot out of each head. Just imagine a Giger alien shaped like Ghidorah. Wouldn't mind seeing Big G fight that.

Of course, you'd need to include Bill Paxton in the human forces to fight such a beast.

"That's it man. Game over man. Game over."

I'm still putting my money on Godzilla.

King Alien. Now THATS scary! Godzilla realy would have to be a Jedi Knight to defeat him! (Godzilla Jedi Knight : Short on words, long on A.C.T.I.O.N.) It has merit.

Here's a thought: the Thunderbirds vs. Godzilla.

Just imagine the possibilities. Kaiju meets supermarionation. Cheesy rubber-suited monster fights cheesy model ships and vehicles in a model city. All human characters are puppets.
