Don't ask me how, but Dana Carvey's Master of Disguise has made more in three days than the far superior Eight Legged Freaks has earned in the nearly three weeks it's been out. Since ELF is largely already gone from first run theaters, by the end of this week MoD should have made more than ELF will in cinemas altogether.
This despite the fact that Master of Disguise has what appears to be the lowest good/bad review ratio ever seen on Rottentomatoes.com, reflecting one good review to *59* bad ones. This results in a 2% rating (which is actually rounded up), while, for example, Battlefield Earth has a comparatively robust 5% rating. (4 good reviews to 84 bad ones.) Astoundingly, the Keanu Reeves stinker Sweet November boasted a 16% rating. Even Freddy Got Fingered got a 9%.
I spread the word to as many people as I could, because "Eight Legged Freaks" was well worth the theater ticket.
You know the idiot thing? After watching "Caveman" the other Marines (many were from another unit, the air wingers) decided I had no idea what a good movie is like. Of course, none of them have seen "Seven Samurai" or any number of other great movies I rattled off. Their idea of a blockbuster is a little different than myself. For example: "Face/Off." I can watch the film, but do not consider it an awesome movie by any means, nor is it among my movie collection.
Also, while in a store the other day, I noticed that "Amelie" is out on DVD. This is from Jean-Pierre Jeunet, who also brought us "The City of Lost Children" and Delicatessen. (http://www.badmovies.org/movies/delicatessen/) I think that I will buy it on blind faith.
Now the big question...can those guys still shoot an M-16 and hit the target? Seriously, i had a bad reaction to the trailers for M. of Disguise.......call it dispepsia of the mind. The "Turtle, turtle, turtle " thing leads me to one conclusion....it will hit big in France. The curse of Jerry Lewis will never die................
THANK GOD MY SON HAS TASTE!
He has expressed ZERO interest in seeing this slapstick dorkfest, and there was a huge preview for it at the start of Stuart Little 2 (cute movie BTW). It just looks idiotic (which is not the same a zany comedy, someone needs to tell that to comedic performers puh-leeeeeze!)
