not to copy andrew...but here are some of my recent views...
Doin' Time on Plane Earth
very fun little comedy. 1988 (PG). (VHS) Directed by Charles Matthau (son of Walter Matthau). 70s teevee Batman Adam West! and a woman with an occupied birdcage in her hairdo both stalk an alienated (literally) teen. Their cult needs the teen to navigate a revolving restaurant to their home planet of B-52. Enjoyable 80s flick is an underrated sort of semi-cross between Better Off Dead and 50-s sci-fi flick. A RECOMMENDED 80s offering.
Habit
vampires!!! 1997 (Unrated). (VHS) Written, directed, and starred by Larry Fessenden. Black-out-prone alcoholic dates mysterious blood-licking woman while his health deteriorates. A realistic and dark depiction, this story is a stark tale of the passionate undead and a booze-soaked plummet into dementia. This is not an action-type vampire flick. A slower pace and mounting tension make this independent film an interesting addition to the more realistic batch of 20th-century/modern-day vampire tales like George Romero's excellent Martin or E. Elias Merhige's Shadow of the Vampire starring John Malkovich. RECOMMENDED.
Kill and Kill Again -
1981 (PG). (VHS) Directed by Ivan Hall. While developing a gasoline-alternative from potatoes, Professor Kane stumbles upon a mind-controlling by-product. The evil Marduke kidnaps the doctor and uses his byproduct to control a cult of brainwashed t-shirt-clad karate disciples. Will master Steve Chase be able to save the world from "Project Drinking Water" with help from an "A-Team"-type cast of The Fly, Gorilla, Hotdog, Gypsy Bill, and Kandy Kane? Just try and count all the "eeeyahs" and "hi-yaws." RECOMMENDED if you like goofing on American-type "kung-fu" flicks because there is plenty to goof on here.
The Naked Man -
Directed by J.Todd Anderson. Michael Rappaport is a chiropracter by day and anatomically correct body suited wrestler by night. The Naked Man seeks revenge upon a crippled criminal and his elvis impersonator sidekick. Odd flick with many dream montages (script co-written by Ethan Coen). There's even a messy scene with an airplane propeller reminiscent of Catch-22. Its mostly amusing and strange but tries too hard (admirably) at times to be David Lynch light. RECOMMENDED for Coen fans or those interested in entertaining weirdness.

> 70s teevee Batman Adam West!
That reminded me of Adam West as "The Big Kahuna" in "American Vampire", a very cheesy 80s vampire surf movie. I just saw this one a few weeks ago. (Don't be fooled by the box cover; Carmen Electra is sort in it as one of the hanger-on vampirettes, but she really doesn't do much)

I am going to bump this one higher on my priority list. Your description has me interested now.
i think you'll like it...i was surprised to see that the director hasn't directed much since...basically nothing at all.
it hits all the right buttons and adam west as an alien is pretty great. it's one of those that seems it should be more popular. it should be.
definitely check it out and let us all know what you think.

"Doing time on planet Earth."Humm....wasen't there T.V. show by that name....Yeah! About a disgraced alien military commander, who had to spent time on Earth as his punishment. He had a Robot "Jailer" who accompined him. Lots of "Fish out of water" gags, as i recall.

You're thinking of Hard Time on Planet Earth starring Martin Kove.
