Title: wal-mart rules!
Post by: mark chopper on September 07, 2002, 06:53:24 PM
i got Last House on the Left and Return of the Living Dead on dvd from there. both have director commentary with other extra goodies on them, i'm gonna be buisy this weekend! i got them both for only around 9$ each. wal-mart sucks for censoring music but atleast they got cheap dvds.

I may have to check there for the ROTLD disc--I have yet to see it anywhere.

good luck on your search, it truly is an awesome dvd to have in a horror collection.

I dunno, I've heard a lot of criticism about changes that were made to the soundtrack [both the songs and the sound effects.]  I'll still check it out, though.

I've heard that Wal-Mart carries censored movies too.

really, i haven't gotten all the way through it. but lets face it, it's not like a Bertolucci period piece, even being a horror nut i think i could stand a few kinks here and there. besides the commentary's real fun. cheers!

yeah, you have to be careful with these chain stores. but i bought both Fight Club and Akira on disc & they both seem to be untampered. just make sure you check the ratings on the back and so forth. how do you say censoring art is ignorant in every language.

The ROTLD version on dvd does have some sound differences (music changes too because of rights on some of the songs) from the original version but otherwise it's really great. I'd still recommend checking out the original version too if you really like it enough.

Why the hell can I not find great stuff and deals like this at Wal-Mart?! I'm in the wrong town. I might have to reconcider moving to Lake Hellhole with my parents.

I don't get those deals at my Walmart either (Columbia, SC).  Nothing under $9.44, and they're only the "big name" Hollywood type flicks.

I have been trying to fine Saturday 14th on dvd at the Wal-Mart here and they do not have it or carry it.

They do not have very many children's dvds except Dinsey for my daughters.

But we were able to two Godzilla's movies for $5.

I don't find many deals either. A couple years ago I started collecting the 7-8 inch monster figures from Sideshow Toys (Frankenstein, the Mummy etc), and people on the net were reporting that Wal-Mart had them for $7.99 each. My local Wal-Mart didn't have any of them. In fact the only place I could find them was Spencer's for $17.99 each!
