Title: Assorted Sad News From The IMDB
Post by: Squishy on September 10, 2002, 05:30:39 AM
(1) Rancid whore Madonna will be remaking "Pygmalion," AKA "My Fair Lady," as "How To Be A Perfect Latino Popstar." Thankfully, she won't be starring in the lead role. What's next? Mariah "The Pariah" Carey's "A Star Is Born?"

(2) J. Lee Thompson died. I ranked on him a lot here, but he DID give us both excellent "good" movies and some of the worst Golan-Globus trash ever put to celluloid. Farewell, J.

A short list of highlights and lowlights:
"Kinjite: Forbidden Subjects"
"Messenger of Death"
"Death Wish 4: The Crackdown"
"Firewalker"
"Murphy's Law"
"King Solomon's Mines"
"The Evil That Men Do"
"10 to Midnight"
"Happy Birthday to Me"
"Caboblanco"
"The Greek Tycoon"
"The White Buffalo"
"The Reincarnation of Peter Proud"
"Battle for the Planet of the Apes"
"Cape Fear" (original)
"The Guns of Navarone"

(3)  Quote: "Sylvester Stallone, who last appeared as Rambo in 1988, has told a news conference at the Deauville Film Festival in France that he may be bringing the character back to life in a new movie. "We're talking about doing another Rambo because I think it's time to combine action with politics," he said. Stallone has experienced a string of box-office flops in recent years, including "Judge Dredd," which cost $90 million to make and earned just $35 million; "Get Carter," which cost $40 million and earned $15 million; and "Driven," which cost $72 million and earned $33 million."

End quote, begin puking with laughter. They didn't even mention "Rocky V," or the fact that his name wasn't even USED to advertise "Driven."

Ugh, what a day. Oh yeah, Peter Hunt died last month, too. Directed this stuff, some of which is also Charles Bronson/Golan-Globus crapola:

"Assassination"
"Hyper Sapien"
"Wild Geese II"
"Death Hunt "
"The Beasts Are In the Streets!"
"Shout at the Devil"
"On Her Majesty's Secret Service"

Heck, leave Madonna alone! Not that I am a fan of her acting career, but I've reached a point in which I don't really care about anything she does. And yes, I do think calling her a whore is an unnecessary roughness.

About those film directors: I feel sorry, specially for J. Lee Thompson, who was a great film director in his moment, before meeting Cannon, that is. Add to your list the western "McKenna's Gold", it's f**king great, plot craters apart. About Peter Hunt, did he ever made anything watchable apart from that James Bond film? I still think it was quite original, and if it wasn't for that moron who played Bond it would be one of the most daring and successful films of the saga.

Kenny of "South Park" was worse:

"Madonna is an old anorexic whore who wore out her welcome years ago, and that now she suddenly speaks with a British accent and she thinks she can play guitar and she should go **** herself."

Uh Neville- there are countless nude photos of "Maddie England" involved in interracial bisexual orgies and she's been involved with Vanilla Ice and Warren Beatty, among doubtless hundreds of others. You wouldn't consider her a whore?

And of course she can only bring Guy Ritchie down. "Hey, you limey wanker! Get away from the tellie and pen up a script for Titanic starring me and the next Italian hunk I want to pretend not to be someone's creepy middle-aged mum with or I'll divorce you!!"
