Best god dam B-movie ever made, I especialy like the scene where one of the actors get his dick cut of by a Hungry female cannibal ,b***h.!!!! bloody bloody movie mmmmm.
My friend has the a copy of CH and I watched it years ago. Pretty nasty stuff just hate the fact they realy did kill animals for the movie thats just totally pathetic. Cannibal movies never really did appeal to me (well maybe except Dr Butcher MD but that has zombies and cannibals)
Dr Butcher MD is in a different class altogether, although nobody can say it's the greatest film in the world you come away feeling entertained or disapointed.
Cannibal Holocaust on the other hand leaves you with the feeling that you've seen something very very bad.
I know, but in essense it is considered a cannibal film just nowhere near the level of CH.
My memory is a little hazy on the animals killed in the movie, I don't remember if it was the native cannibals killing them or not but anyway...my sister is an expert on cannibal films, at least she claims to be, and I remember her telling me that the animal being killed were just a ritual the tribesmen did, so its not like the filmakers set it up. Its actually been done in mainstream films at least once(the end of Apocalypse Now)
Your sister is talking crap, no offence meant though.
Cannibal Holocaust set up all of it, from the turtle being fished out of the water by the whiteys and then chopped up and eaten, to the poor little minkey being caught by the natives and having the top cut off its head and brains eaten, the muskrat getting stuck with a knife so the guide could eat it, I could go on but there isn't much point really. Sure it's bad, but what can you do about it? This stuff was part and parcel with the cannibal genre and though it isn't exactly something that I'd condone it's not something I'd condemn as it was done before the laws on film making changed. If someone tried to do it now, that'd be a different story and I'd object til I was blue in the face, but what's done is done and you can't bring back all the slaughtered animals from the cannibal films. Besides, Cannibal Holocaust is a work of art. Everyone should see it before they die, along with Man Behind The Sun, The Killing Of America, Schindlers List, and Salo : 120 Days Of Sodom.
I can't believe people tried to ban Cannibal Holocaust in the UK as a snuff movie.
Yup, Cannibal Holocaust is one mean-spirited film alright. But IMO it is quite simply the greatest movie ever made. If you can get past the animal violence (which is unpleasant, I admit that) what you'll find is a tour-de-force of shock cinema. It is deeply disturbing, but it is also very thought-provoking in the way in which it deals with the voyeurism of violence.
Don't expect entertainment, it's not that kind of film. I should also warn that if you intend to view this film then approach with caution. And if the subject matter seems repellant to you then avoid altogether.
But if you've the stomach for it, then track down a copy. What you'll find is one of the greatest movies ever committed to celluloid.
Yes, the depressing fact about this movie is that people only take it on face value. They see a gore film, and judge it as euro-trash.
But underneath that gore is one of the greatest movies ever made. It certainly preceeded the Blair Witch Project, and most definitely influenced it!
The underlying concept of the film is racism and the power of the media. The filmmakers in the film set out to make a harsh documentary about cannibalism, and will go to any lengths to make it so.
So if there is anyone who hasn't see this yet, please get a copy! Believe me, you wont be disappointed!
This movie was as good a study of voyeurism as happy feet was a study of environmentalism.
I like social commentary.
I like shock and gore.
This was just a bunch of hacks with an excuse to try to shock people. It is too cheap to be shocking and too expensive to be funny.
Stay away.
