Title: Vampirella
Post by: D on September 13, 2002, 04:00:05 PM
I just watched the Cormen "Vampirella" movie today. By Ackerman's soul, who thought this was a good idea? But, after digging a few back issues from the old Warren days out, I think a Vampirella film, if done right, could a very good.
Of course, if i were in charage of it, it would have been made back in the 70's, and done by Hammer. Right now, however, maybe a animated version.
Barbara Legih(sp?)-Vampirella. The first choice, according to Warren
Caroline Muno-Pantha(or Vampirella)
Peter Cushing-Conrad van Helsing ( or Pendragon) Come, it's a Hammer film, which leads me to...
Christopher Lee-Dracula (goes with out saying)
And as for the plot, maybe one of the Archie Goodwin issues. They were always good pageturners
anyway, that's just some thoughts

I never read any of the original comics, but even I thought this film sucked. The one thing I liked about it was Corrina Harney, one of the cutest playmates of that time period.

Corman's "vampirella" truly did Forry Ackerman's creation completely no sheer justice(thanks,Jim Wynorski!!!).
Hammer was to have done that film in the mid 70s,with Barbara Leigh as vampi(obviously not the greatest casting choice, but better than nothing)but their financial backers American International Pictures wanted then-popular British comic/Mel Brooks reportary player Marty Feldman(he with the kooky crooked, bulging eyes)in Peter Cushing's role, which Hammer strongly felt wasn't a good casting choice, which pulled the plug on that unfortunately-unmade flick(which could have saved the company from its dark fate by the decacde's end a few years later).
With Mark Altman now planning on a new vampirella,he hope he's smart in choosing Dario Argento as director, and Asia Argento as Vampi, which would really kick major league  ass.
But,I could also live with either Angelina Jolie or Tera patrick as Vampi,as well,as long as it doesn't blunder as dreadfully as Wynorski's version did(even though it had its moments, thansk to the likes of a cameoing Angus Scrimm, and Who singer Roger daltry hamminh it up happily as vampi's nemesis, and Talisa Solo doing all she could to carry the film).
