I know we talk about movies a lot but i have an idea for a movie that i really think could work. its about a crazy underground soceity, a cult if thats what floats your boat, anyway they bring their kids up underground from birth. they are raised to believe that the people above ground are an evil people, that have banished them to the sewers below. they are taught that a day of revenge will come, that day is planned out and as the cult grows and grows, until the one day the day of dread is upon us all. i think this is a cool idea the people underground could be under anything. there could be sub-plots as one group of sewer dwellers dont want to kill and take over the world and they join and the above ground world, to try and save the world. i dont have a title or anything but i think it really explores or youth and how valueable they are and how easily they can be taught something else. it also makes you question what you were taught. do you guys have any ideas.
with our combined knowledge would could all mold the movie we want to see. we could even try to see if we can get it made, the movie written by the phorum at this site.
this has all the makings of a BAD movie- and here's why...
i don't think anyone could buy into the idea of an "underground society" that's survived, undetected, for generations- especially if this society is big enough to "take over the world."
you'd have to do some fancy dancing around to explain all the potential plotholes.
or maybe that was your intention- to make a bad movie. after all, this is a BAD MOVIE message board :) if that's what you've got in mind, i wish you luck (or bad luck- bad luck would probably make your bad movie worse) :)
BUT if you change it around a bit, it might work...
this underground society is 40 people strong- men, women, old, young- it's all mixed. they haven't been underground for long, maybe a month or two.
the family members of the cult members start to wonder where their fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, etc, disappeared to.
eventually, the family members discover that their lost loved ones are living underground. the family members try and persuade the underground dwellers to come back up to the surface. they refuse.
the media gets ahold of the story. this underground society makes some huge headlines. they catch the eye of the government.
the government discovers that this underground society is making plans to kill hundreds (or even thousands) of surface dwellers. the government goes underground to smoke this cult out (like they took out the branch davidians).
the underground society is killed. the movie ends. the credits roll.
what do you think? by the time you've got a workable script written out (maybe a year or two from now), and get it filmed (another year or two), people might be in the mood to see a movie like this.

see what i was thinking is they arent really that big maybe 40 people like you said, but they have weapons and maybe nukes. dont ask me how they got nukes that would be worked out later. and the kids have to be raised to hate world, so the idea plays on peoples minds, it plays on peoples thoughts of what there kids are really being taught. food is not that hard to come by they could eat fungi or something or every now and then they could steal food from the surface, but i do like the idea of the government going under and takeing them out. maybe like a seals team or something, it would have to have a suprise ending like the leader of the seals team turns out to be one of the cult leaders or something. good point though.
maybe the teachers or preists could start the cult, its scary to think the people we trust our kids with could go bad.
there could be a way to change into a comedy but i find that aspect doubtful.
heres one a movie about a cop who only became a cop so he could use his police training to rob banks and stay one step ahead of the cops. if he was a cop he would know what was going on in the ranks. then he retires. cant find the right ending for this idea.
I don't know if mr. patrick is gone yet, but this idea was made into one of my favorite reads of last year.

Sounds similar to a book I read a few years ago. I was sure that the title was Helloween, or Hell-O-Ween, but I can't find it on Amazon or on the web. THere are books with those titles, but they're not the right ones. A group of teenagers goes into a cave and decides to do a little exploring. Before they know it, they're completely lost and end up finding an underground tribe of demons.
Anyone else read this or know what the correct title is? I borrowed it from someone I no longer see.
