For those who don't know what I'm talikng about: http://us.imdb.com/Title?0095286

People, this must be one of the weirdest films I have ever seen. I was looking for a disturbing thriller a I found it. And I have to admit it was too disturbing for me.

This one goes about a young, mentally disturbed woman (Jennifer Jason Leigh) who inherits a decrepit, gloomy night club on a big city and decides to live there while it is being rehabilitated. Enclosed in the rooms which belonged to a macabre uncle, she experiments paranoia episodes and starts loosing contact with reality. Or is really somebody watching her behind the walls?

It is a really inmersive and scary movie. While it is a thriller, it is directed as a horror movie, and director Matthew Chapman treats the rooms upstairs the nightclub, where most of the action takes place, as an extra character. The surrealist design of the rooms (one spots a pile of red apples as a decorative element) and the occasional noises give the film a tetric, powerful, atmosphere.

Another thing that caught my attention: Most horror movies use the sobrenatural as a threat and an invisible force that breaks reality appart. Here sex is used for the same effect, believe it or not.

Oh, and the cast includes Peter Coyote, Steve Buscemi and Frank Stallone, in which may be his best performance ever.

Things I learned (C) Andrew.
------------------------------------------

- Never let an elephant stand on your feet.

- Bikes are prone to telekinesia.

- Policemen will do the strangest things during office hours.

Thanks for the recommendation, this seems worth checking out.  Sounds like one of those Made for Showtime movies.
