Title: Godzilla video game...
Post by: John on September 19, 2002, 01:35:37 AM
 Since most people seem to be fans of Godzilla, I thought I'd mention that there's a new Godzilla game out; Godzilla: Destroy All Monsters Melee. It's a fighting game where you end up destroying the city in the process and you can even use parts of the debris as weapons. Characters include Godzilla, Mechagodzilla, Gidorah, Megalon and others. Of course it's only for the Nintendo Gamecube. Everyone has a Gamecube, right?

 Another game I'll probably never own. :(

Hopefully, this "Gamecube only" business will change. A lot of gamemakers who declared themselves "XBox only" are now sawing away at the rope holding THAT anchor around their necks. However, even though it looks ugly and doesn't do DVD, Gamecube DOES have the best spread in selection of games, an area PS2 is only now and very slowly starting to improve in. (I can't believe "The Bouncer" was supposed to be the PS2's hot-s**t premiere game...blerk)

John, if you look around on Google, you might still be able to find a downloadable demo video/commercial for DAMM (if you haven't already).

I'm hoping it's good.  Anybody remember the KING OF MONSTERS games for the Neo-Geo?  They were pretty interesting, except the combat seemed pretty slow.  How do you make quick paced combat for two giant monsters?

Does any one remember a Godzilla game for the nintendo? I only completed it once but it ruled! You could be either Godzilla or Mothra (wait you HAD to be them both, but guess who was the better?)

I still have it, in fact.  That was my first contact with Gigan, oddly enough.

I too remeber playing that game and doing pretty well for a 7 year old, it's hard though and I wasn't into being Mothra who was easier to control but not near as fun. I happen to think The first one with Super Godzilla was the best. Very well done and easy to play.

...Godzilla, Monster of Monsters.

Which is a really silly name, now that I think about it.  (But, then again, the original Nintendo had a lot of silly names.)

 I didn't search for a movie of it yet, but you can find some info and screenshots here;

In my book, the greatest giant monster video game ever is still Rampage. Hell, in my book, Rampage is in the running for best video game, period. :)

 Never played it in the arcades just at home on the C64, Atari 7800 & Amiga and I sucked no matter which version it was. That might be due to the limited controls though (of the home versions I've played).

Rampage was good but I'm looking more forward to this!
