Title: Silent Trigger (1996), starring Dolph Lundgren
Post by: Neville on September 19, 2002, 09:23:49 AM
Anybody seen this one? It was yesterday on TV, and I thought it was pretty good, specially considering who is the lead actor.

It goes about an assassin who grows more and more tired of his job and starts refusing to kill his assignments. However, his employers decide to give him a last chance: a final job with another companion, who has the orders to kill him if he doesn't shoot.

OK, the idea is decent, the acting pretty bad (surprisingly, Lundgren is OK as the sullen killer, though) and the script terrible (just consider this: despite Dolph being tired of killing, he ends up shooting and killing loads of people during the running time). But it is still surprisingly solid for a dolph Lundgren movie, and the film has a neat and professional look thanks to director Russell Mulcahy ("Highlander"), who seems convinced to be something like the Ridley Scott of B-movies.

A final remark: Just when Lundgren finally makes a decent film, his career goes down the sink. Last time I heard of him, he was working for the infamous Phoenician studio, that one who releases direct to video action flicks where every single action sequence is lifted from Hollywood blockbusters.

This movie is one of my "guilty pleasures" - love this flick!!!!
I wish the female lead had gone on to do more movies - she's a hottie!!!

It's good to see that someone like Neville shares my views in just just terrible Phoenician Entertainment films truly are!!!
Otherwise,"Silent Trigger" is one of Dolph Lungren's better films, for it's too bad that his most dreadful films got the theatrical releases that knocked down his career to direct-to-video land, although his "retirement" has been kept abrupt with his now-filming new action film "Detention"(high school teacher vs. terrorists invading campus),which shows that he's still pretty ballsy on not letting Seagal or Vin Diesel take over his action hero spot just yet.

The Punisher was one of dolph's best BAD flicks- the faces he makes during that movie are classic :) (watch it and you'll see what i mean)
