Post by: lester1/2jr on September 19, 2002, 08:00:25 PM
Just a rumour I heard on Stern this morning.  the Jump the Shark (.com) guy was on and they were talking about the worst moves in Showbiz history.  the movie travolta made with Lily tomlin was number 2 I think, right after Waterworld.  Anyone he's supposedly working on the sequal.   Anyone?

Battlefield Earth, the movie, only told about one third of the book's story, and originally it was intended to be the first of a trilogy. Then it came out. I bet that film did wonders for the Cult Of Scientology's image. I think one of the main reasons for the movie's shocking incompetance is the source material; L. Ron Hubbard was a hack, pure and simple.

Waterworld beat out the Postman and Ishtar??  I'll grant you Waterworld was down there... but #2?

What movie did Travolta make with Lily Tomlin?

"Moment By Moment." Travolta and Tomlin were making out right there on the poster, and the studio couldn't figure out why people were screaming and fleeing, while others spontaneously combusted. Travolta was lucky to walk away from it alive; Tomlin was lucky to be wheeled away and propped up on a stage somewhere before the buzzards came.

God, I never even HEARD of that.  Some movies are in and out of the theater so fast they do no harm to the careers involved.
