Would everyone here consider Big Trouble in Little China a b-movie? I guess I would and was surprised to see that it wasn't reviewed. The movie does rock.

I love this movie! I watch it every chance I get ( whenever the missus isn't home) and it never gets old.
It has to be one of my all time favourites. I'm not sure about whether or not it should be classed as a B Movie because in many ways it made fun of action movies (usually the parts with Kurt Russel.) That's just my opinion however, some may feel differently about it.
I too love that film. I'd consider a great mix of mainstream production and b-movie attitude in the way it's an action movie that never takes itself at all seriously.
I've had an unfinished 'Reader Review' of BTiLC sitting on my computer for like a year, but I have this 'motivation deficiency'. I 'd urge anyone less lazy than me who can do a good review to submit one, cos this film definitely deserves to be among the 5-slime films on this site.

"B-movie" tends to suggest a low budget and largely unknown cast and crew, by which standard, I don't think BTILC qualifies.
"Bad Movie" may be more appropriate, although I don't intend to imply that the movie wasn't fun. But it was bad. Russell's "John Wayne" was as horrendous and bizarre as Christian Slater's "Nicholson" in Heathers. Hard to define "Bad Movie." I use the Carla-meter. If my wife rolls her eyes and starts doing laundry ten minutes into the video, but I'm laughing and asking her "What? What's wrong?" then it's a "Bad Movie." I haven't watched BTILC with her, but I bet it would be a good rental the next time the wash starts to pile up.
BTinLC is a classic. Well...to me.
....Its realy the over all sense of affible insanity inherant in it. Relax and enjoy the live action cartoon. Its hard to beat it.
....and you can quote Jack Burton on that...
No doubt about it. This movie is a classic. So quotable it's almost criminal. :)
I think BTILC is definitely a B-Movie. Like all Carpenter films it was recieved poorly at the box office and it has recieved a loyal cult following on video. It had kung-fu fighting before it was trendy, and people with more mainstream tastes don't rerally seem to know what to make of it.
